Yin - there’s a LOT of illegal stuff that can be found via torrents. But there’s plenty of legal stuff too. You can find shareware, pictures, documents.
If I can tape LOST on my VCR so I can watch it when I get home late, why can’t I just download it and watch it? I can see if I was packaging it and selling it or something but instead of filling up VCR tapes, I’m filling up my hard drive.
Well the one girl they show in the pit on the commercials is the girl that Jack met in the bar. This seems to lend credence that maybe the tail section survived. But then I think back to that episode and I didn’t get the impression that they were on the same plane…

Correct, I didn’t say that there were no survivors from the rear of the plane, but that I didn’t think that the ‘others’ were survivors from the rear of the plane.

I didn’t get why Jack hit the execute key.
I had a funny feeling when the girl in the pit started asking the questions she did, that something wasn’t quite right.
How about the preview for next week with Jin speaking english!?!?!?
I thought - no way! Why would they preview that and not let it be a shock like it was with Sun? But then I wonder if maybe Michael and Sawyer don’t teach him some key words/phrases as part of an escape plan.
I hope they don’t make Hurley that “I’m a fat guy and am obsessed with food” thing next week. He’s the best character on the show.
I thought it was cool when he realized the code was wrong and didn’t say anything about it.
I still didn’t get Jack’s behavior. I could see that he was upset w/ Desmond and then he chases him down for why? To tell Desmond he married her? What’s the point of that?
And you’d think (future episode?) that if they were smart enough to trace down the conduit runs to find the breaker box, that they’d trace down the connections to the doomsday clock.
And if Desmond got suckered in to helping the previous dude, why didn’t he leave the hatch to see if he could find anyone to help him?
And what was he injecting himself with?

I didn’t get why John couldn’t/wouldn’t do it himself and why Jack had to be in on it. There were three other people in the room who could have taken a shift or two…
Yeah, I kinda figured, but was still surprised. Given the nature of work this guy had to do for his father in law I would imagine speaking english would be part of the deal.
He had no accent and he wasn’t using select words/phrases…this certainly indicated he’s been fluent for a while, imo. The real question is: To whom was he speaking??
Me too. That would irritate me.
The best I could come up with was the sheer illogicalness of the situation. For Jack, who has no faith, never has, to be in the same space as Desmond apparently was too much for him to take in. He was fighting it the whole way. It was almost as if he thought it was an illusion, a set up, a trap…we can see he’s beginning to think someone out there is manipulating him (and the others)…he’s still trying to find a logical explanation for their situation, and Desmond certainly threw a wrench in that because really, what are the odds those two would cross paths again on the island, let alone ever? After both were involved in plane crashes, no less.
And I thought Jack didn’t marry Sarah…didn’t he go to the altar but then walk away? Or did he marry then divorce? And why would he answer Desmond with “I married her” instead of “I healed her”?
Priority was on getting the clock reset, I’m sure there will be much more exploration going on once they have shifts covered to keep resetting until they figure things out.
The previous dude obviously led him to believe they were quarantened in there and that there was no other life out there. Since it was an experiment, for all the dude knew, it was just him and the other guy, until that guy died…and then Desmond arrives.
I don’t remember, did Desmond arrive after that second guy died or before? Because if it’s after, then how did the previous dude get away to find/rescue Desmond in 107 minutes?
I missed that in the opening episode…can someone describe the scene for me? What was shown?

Yeah, I didn’t get that either. It seems like we were led to believe that he got cold feet and they never showed us a wedding. And that was why I thought he was chasing Desmond to find out about her being healed, not to just let him know that he married her.
I thought Desmond said that the guy that found him on the beach and brought him there was alone.
What I remember was that he was working out. Ate some healthy-looking breakfast and then went over to some cabinet and injected himself with something. And it was just a needle. It looked like a heavy-duty injector or something.

I thought they did get married on the beach; his vows were enough to give any bride a heart attack, but he pulled thru it and they kissed – so I thought they were married – did she die or leave him or what is my question…

And the injections – he was taking them in the first episode after his shake/breakfast thing, but then when he ran off, he made sure to take an armful of them and the injector too – what struck me as odd was Jack is a doc, watched him take the vials and injector and didn’t go back and look at the vials he left to see what they were…I thought that would be the first thing he did…or at least when he came back…kwim?

Ok, I’m just now getting into Lost this season, but I don’t quite understand how Desmond got into the hatch. Was he part of the original experiment? Or was he in the plane crash? I’m confused by some of the posts on here… (Bare with me, I only have a BA still 
) I am really enjoying the show, but my roommate is about to give up on because of a lack of clarity…

Oh yeah…I remember him grabbing all those…at the time I thought they were ‘just in case’ since he was leaving the place for who knows where and he might get sick.
The bottles had clear fluid in them…but it wasn’t refrigerated so it can’t be insulin…

I am watching LOST right now on WINAMP. You do not download the episodes. You download, WINAMP, a free program. Of course, you can get the cooler-version and pay. Streaming is legal, they just play the episodes over and over. Go to Winamp.com, I think.

If my neighbor taped it and let me watch the tape, is that illegal? Same thing, just different “exchange” method. So far, the only thing illegal about downloading episodes is if you sell them for profit (and that’s no different than before; again, just the method of transfer is new).
I have to ask this question tho – why couldn’t you just ask “isn’t that illegal?” – why is it that people have to follow that up with “you know, A SIN???” – like you can hear the fires of hell churning in the background and the evil laughter of a thousand damned souls…it’s so…accusatory, I guess. I don’t see any reason for the added drama, esp if you’re not even sure if you’re right?

Because as Catholics we are called to live our lives on earth in accordance with the laws of heaven - since that’s our final destination and this is only temporary.
We know that secular laws and guidelines aren’t necessarily moral. Abortion is legal. But it is immoral. Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s OK for me to have one. In heaven it is NOT ok so I live my life here by heaven’s rules. We aren’t concerned with legalities of the land as much as we are with sin against God.
Now IF internet uploading and downloading were legal then there wouldn’t be a question about whether or not my downloading an episode is a sin because there is no implication of theft going on (Thou Shalt Not Steal is the commandment I’m trying not to break).
BUT…I have yet to read any articles saying uploading copyrighted material without permission from ABC to a public server so thousands of people can download it is legal. Have you?
What I have read and seen are articles and commercials (particularly on newly produced DVDs) specifically stating that when people upload and download without permission they are hurting the producers of the material (music, movies, whatever). They specifically state people who participate in that are stealing.
Now in order for a sin to be MORTAL as opposed to venial, one has to know what they are about to do is a sin and they have to decide to do it anyway.
Because I know the film and music industry considers file sharing to be theft I would be in that know category of sin should I decide to take part in the downloading, and that is serious.
So with the Thou Shalt Not Steal imprinted on my soul, it’s my moral obligation to find out what about this Winamp process makes the situation different so that it is not illegal. Does ABC know? Do they get money from it? Have they signed off on this site making the episodes available?

perhaps I’m reading it wrong, but when you ask is it illegal, why not leave it at that instead of throwing out the “IMMORAL AND A SIN!!!”
part…when you describe something as illegal, 9x out of 10, it’s illegal and a sin – the overkill smacks of holier than thou – I was surprised you left out the wagging finger smiley…

In fact as we were watching it “live” my wife declared at the first scene with Sun that it was a different actress. I had a slight thought in my mind right before she said that - that I didn’t recognize Shannon. I saw Claire and I was thinking who is that with her? Well then my wife said that and I thought she meant Shannon!
Well when we re-wound it she told me to look at the eyes and THAT’S when we started communicating.
She said Sun’s eyes looked huge and that usually they’re not that big. I couldn’t make up my mind. The odd thing that stuck out though was she had all of 2 words.
So then if my wife is right, we were trying to decide whether the actress who plays Sun was sick and they had a double or if in LOST fashion - there’s something sinister going on!
