But that wouldn’t explain why Jack is now seeing forward…
Perhaps it is just us who are being given the sneak peek?
While it seemed like a flashback, the bombshell at the end indicated that we were given a glimpse into the future. So really what we thought we flashbacks were actually current and what we thought was current was a flashback! 😛

RE: Naomi, boat, etc. I JUST DON’T KNOW! Ben seemed to indicate they were an enemy. If it is Penelope’s dad, how’d she get that picture w/ Desmond & Penelope? Or like wjp894 suggested that the ship is actually Ben’s people?

RE: Charlie’s death. I think that he believed in Desmond’s flashes and was resolved to do what he had to do to make sure the rest got rescued. So it was a complete and utter selfless act. I didn’t notice the left-hand sign of the cross. :hmmm: I don’t think it has to do with Charlie not knowing better because it seems like he was pretty ‘involved’ at one time. Perhaps an acting mistake?

RE: Jack’s dad. I wondered about that too. That’s why at first I assumed it was a flashback. I assumed too that him telling the pharmacist not to bother wasn’t because his dad was dead but that it was a forgery period. So maybe it was rhetoric? Or…
It seems Charlie died for nothing abd that Jack is NOT the leader everyone thought.
I’m not sure what you mean? It seemed like they were indeed getting rescued because Charlie shut the jammer down and Jack led them up and handled Ben & Locke.

I also thought it was odd that he crossed himself with his left hand. I am left handed and use my right for the Sign of the Cross. Hmm. What could that have indicated?
Just that he’s left handed, that’s all. He wrote the list with his left hand, plays guitar with his left, so he ‘signs’ with his left. I don’t know if the actor is Catholic, but suspect not, since as you noted, leftie or not, Catholics are raised to make the sign with the right hand. If he’s not Catholic then, as an actor, it makes sense that he’d use his left hand in the scene - not realizing it should have been his right. I also don’t think it matters all that much to the directors to get that bit of detail ‘right’, apparently.

The actor’s name is Dominic Monaghan–if he wasn’t raised Catholic, I’ll eat my DHARMA Initiative passcard (oh blast–I’ve said too much). On the other hand, my brother and I are speculating whether Monaghan hasn’t switched sides and made some sort of deal with the infernal powers–not only has the man landed lucrative roles in both the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Lost, he’s dating the actress who plays Kate. Next week he’ll probably win the lotteries of three different states and an EU member.

It seemed to me that the boat waiting off shore is either enother enemy out to kill them, or is part of Ben’s plan to keep them on the island. Either way Charlie died for nothing.

Charlie did at least warn Desmond that it was not Penny’s boat by writing it on his hand and putting it up to the glass. So, maybe Desmond will get back in time to warn the survivors about the boat.

Yes, good point.

Do we know for sure that Charlie is dead?
With this program, anything can happen.

The last we saw, Charlie is floating in the water in the camber.

But the window is broken. So, it could be possible that suddenly, a hand reaches in and grabs him, pulling him to the surface.

Who knows? We only have 8 more months to learn more. 😦
