Well I watched the clip of Jacob on my home computer last night.

I didn’t see Jacob sitting in the chair, when I watched the original broadcast, but sure enough, I paused it and there he is.

Also, you see a large eye, but it looks like it could be Ben’s eye.

Anyway, its creepy watching it again.

Here is a picture that I found. I am new to watching LOST, only have been watching for about 4 weeks now. Very interesting show, it has me hooked. I just need to get Season 1 and 2 to get the background.

So how is the Jacob character connected to all of this? I’ve been thinking about him, and I just don’t get how he is “the power” on the island. And why would he need help? And why is Ben so afraid of him?

We don’t know yet how Jacob is connected. You may remember the episode where Kate and Sawyer help Alex rescue Carl. Carl was strapped in a chair being forced to watch some kind of video of bizarre scenes and comments. One of the comments was “God loves you as He loved Jacob”.

Later we hear that “Jacob” is going to heal Rachel (Juliette’s sister) if Juliette will agree to stay on the island.

Things to note from the last episode regarding Jacob…
  1. Ben and Locke crossed a line of some substance. Ben was very careful to step over it and got agitated when Locke stopped to inspect it. I think in some religions a ring of some substance (ash maybe?) is used to contain or keep out spirits.
  2. There was a bearded man that shoved Ben. Is Ben “containing” him in some way–“Help me”?
  3. Coincidence? Ben kills his dad then requires Locke to kill his dad. Ben’s mom dies in childbirth and none of the “other” women have survived pregnancy. Richard is a “native” and has apparently not aged during the last 20 years. Is Ben so obsessed with pregnancy survival because at some point he got his friend (the little girl) pregnant and she died?
  4. As Locke beat on Mikhail, Ben called out to Richard and Tom to help. Till now, the viewer has assumed that Ben is the head honcho calling all the shots. Richard saw something “special” (like Walt) in the young Ben when he reported seeing his dead mother. Do they seem the same “specialness” in Locke and are they hoping Locke will ultimately overthrow Ben? It was very interesting that Richard and Tom remained bystanders despite Ben’s requests for help.
Therefore, I think that Ben loves everyone thinking he is in charge. He said no one else sees or talks to Jacob and was probably surprised when Locke indicated that Jacob spoke. Ben knew he hadn’t said anything himself, therefore Jacob said something to Locke that Ben didn’t hear. Ben is jealous. Still, he knows the island heals people and if he really wanted Locke dead, he would have needed to put one in the head. He’s still up to something.

BTW, I have heard speculation that Jacob is Jack’s “dead” dad, Christian. Jack has seen him on the island (season 1).

Good call! I forgot about both of those!

I also was struck by the “ash” or whatever it was. My initial thought was that it was gun-powder or something and Ben was going to light it onfire to keep Locke inside the ring or something along those lines.

Don’t know about Jacob=Jack’s dad though. Ben saw his mom. The “priest” saw his brother. etc.

Jacob didn’t look like Jack’s dead dad. We saw Jacks dead dad in the first season and in flashbacks of Jack’s life.

I don’t think that Jacob is Jack’s father, but I think he appeared as his father in season 1. Mr. Eco saw his dead brother, Ben saw his dead mom, Jack saw his dead father. I think all of them were Jacob.
As for the stuff that Ben and Locke had to step over, my brother pointed out that it could be ash from the suposed volcano the island has. Makes sense.

Well, since I am terrible at figuring out the big picture, I’ll point out something I noticed tonight (perhaps another indirect referal to the Bible). Charlie’s older brother swapped the family heirloom to Charlie did that remind anyone about Jacob and his older brother Easu or am I just trying to make a connection that isn’t there?

What I wonder is how they could have 2 more seasons of this show though. It is getting good again and building towards an ending. I don;t know if it can be done in 2 hours but it certainly should not take more than another season and I don’t even think a full season is necessary.

Last evening we learn(or at least I learned) about he underwater hatch. Of course I started thinking about submarine that Locke blew up. This was obviously how they got the people into the underwater hatch, but now the sub is gone. Supposedly, Jack and Juliet were suppose to leave on the sub. Was this really a lie that Ben perpetuates to those who wish to leave the Island, but instead of leaving, they ended up in the underwater hatch?

Also, the people in the underwater hatch that took Charlie prisoner, are they trapped down there because they were fooled by Ben, thinking that they were leaving the island, and are now seek revenge? Also, if this is the case, could it be they think Charlie is one of Ben’s people? Perhaps they’re not even aware that the sub was destroyed, but think they were abandoned?

I know, more questions than answers, but I love it!

Next week is a 2hr special and Thursday their is a special with the creators, who will provide information about the island.

I can’t wait until next week! This show is one of a kind!! I thought for sure Charlie was a goner! Jack’s speech to the group in the beginning of the show had me pumped!!! This show is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. (I’m not always sure where it’s going, but I sure am enjoying the ride!!!)

gmarie - I had the same thought at first too! But it seemed his brother had pure intentions in giving it to Charlie.

When Charlie jumped overboard I thought, how cool would that have been if he had crossed himself first! I almost think the writers goofed by not having that in there.

wjp - Actually I think it’s 3 seasons!

Jim - I wonder about the hatch too. The thing I enjoy (as don mentioned) is that you JUST DON’T KNOW! On the one hand you get some information from Ben or Juliette or whomever. And you don’t know whether it’s misinformation or a lie or the truth. Is Juliette STILL or mole or not? I thought she joined up w/ Jack and it’s obvious from her flashbacks that she wants to go home. But maybe she’s playing the game so she somehow can.

I’m loving the ride! 😃

I was on the edge of my seat last night. I though for sure Charlie was going to be killed off last night.
I have a theory about the whole Charlie/Desmond thing. I do think that Charlie is going to die because he is meant to die. I think the reason Desmond has been having these flashes is he’s supposed to save Charlie till now. Now Charlie is supposed to sacrifice himself to save everyone else.

So were all of those scense with Jack as a junkie flash forwards, not flashbacks? And if so, how many of the flashbacks have really been flashbacks, and not flash forwards?

And Charlie, for heavens sake! 😦

Looks like it.
I think this is the only one we get to see with Jack, but Desmond gets flashes of the future and John seems to have insight into the future as well (he was in the implosion with Desmond and Ecko). We’re not getting to see John’s premonitions. But that wouldn’t explain why Jack is now seeing forward…unless something happened to him when he was in captivity by the Others.

or is he?

Perhaps it is just us who are being given the sneak peek?

So now there are 4 players in this game:

The Others
The Survivors
Penelope and her crew in the ice storm
Naomi and her people who are off shore on a ship.

I suspect the people off shore will turn out to be Penelope’s dad’s people…that Penelope has been working on her own using her father’s resources, which is why she doesn’t know about any boat.

As for Charlie, at least they showed him making the sign of the cross.

my guess is that for once Ben as evil as he might be is correct on this one. Remember that she said that they were thought to be all dead and that they found the plane and everything. Well since they are really not dead and stuck on the island, the people on that boat are coming to finish the job since the public is supposed to think they are dead so they better be dead.

One thing I want to know is what is the deal with the numbers that the show made such a big deal over in the first two seasons. Unless I missed something they never explained their purpose and whether they really have any power. Also, I wonder what happened to Hurley’s money. It sure would suck if his dad gets it.

Finally, I had a phone call for part of the show so I missed a couple things. Whose funeral was Jack going to?

It was never revealed whose funeral it was. I’m guessing it might have been Locke’s, but it’s another mystery.

I haven’t watched it yet! I’M NOT LISTENING! LA LA LA LA LA! 🙂

The show does not return until January. Seven months off.

It seems Charlie died for nothing abd that Jack is NOT the leader everyone thought.

My guess is that its Juliet’s funeral and hence the cause of Jack’s drug addiction and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
