The Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky has no objection to the appearance of pro-abortion Rep. John Yarmuth as commencement speaker at a local Catholic university.

I just wonder if that University would let a child molester speak or a Neo-Nazi?

It doesn’t suprise me, Louisville is known to be one of organizing hubs for Call to Action for example:
“One’s eyes begin glaze at the number and pomposity of names and titles. However, the relationship between diocesan employees and Call to Action work is extremely interesting. The telephone number for the 1998 Call to Action-promoted talk, at which IAF organizer Sr. Pearl Caesar and the United States Catholic Conference’s John Carr were speakers, is for the offices of the Archdiocese of Louisville. Someone working for the Archdiocese of Louisville was coordinating a Call to Action talk scheduled in upstate New York.” from the article - The Underground Call to Action from CatholicCulture.Org

If someting like that can happen from an Archdiocese’s office, the influence of such Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing brings no suprises to me to see them reach into Spaulding University’s sphere.

John Yarmuth is as liberal as it gets. He was founding editor of L.E.O. magazine (Louisville Eccentric Observer). Anything goes in the weekly tabloid. Ads for escort services, both gay and hetro.
A section which included various groups ads, including pagan groups. He is not a part of the tabloid now, but for years he was.
BTW, Yarmuth also had no problem allowing a regular column by a man who served time for threatening the life of a U.S. Senator.

Sad news indeed.

Is Yarmouth a Catholic?

I would respond by using my right to withold my donation to the University (if I were part of their alumni association)- and to the Archdiocese. I would write them letters explaining why I was witholding my donations.

No he isn’t
Then why are people in this thread trying to hold him accountable to Catholic morals?

Everyone knows where the Catholic Church stands on the issue of abortion, and everyone knows where this Representative stands on abortion; there is no scandal and no confusion on the Church’s position.

Furthermore, this is simply a commencement ceremony, is it not?

Just the other day, the Pope referenced Tertullian, a heretic if I’m correct. Does that make the Holy Father guilty by association just like this Catholic university?

We aren’t holding him to be accountable to Catholic morals. We are holding the diocese to be accountable to Catholic morals. It is scandalous for the diocese to say nothing about it.

The Church’s position on Racism is widely known too. That doesn’t mean that a Catholic University should invite the Grand Wizard of the KKK to speak at a commencement.

It wouldn’t be a matter of trying to make the Klansman be accountable to Catholic morals, but rather not giving a Catholic platform to those who are so set against Catholic morality. Even a commencement speach.

Tertullian had a time where he left the Church to become a Montanist,(holding that those who fell into sin after Baptism could not be Redeemed) but returned to the Church prior to his death.

His work prior to Montanist phase, especially on the Trinity, is excellent and well worthy of quotation (which is what His Holiness did)

 This makes me angry, im in the Diocese of Memphis, which is under the Archdiocese of Louisville. Maybe I should write a letter or something
