In the Homily this morning the priest made a similar connection with regards to Pope Francis. He said that what Pope Francis is trying to do is to get people to see the person and not just the law. He was a Friar and it does seem to be a very Franciscian way of looking at things.

My summary would be to not interpret the person according to the law but to interpret the law according to the person.

I wanted to make a note of it because I’ve been wondering if Francis is going to adopt a more moderate tone after the Synod (like he did in his closing speech). So far, I’ve seen several examples where I think he has, and I think this one is too, but you wouldn’t know it from the article.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think pre-Synod Francis wouldn’t have included the “justice” part here, so I think its significant that he did.

So “love” under such conditions naturally must be defined in the context of the solution and repair of such injustice.

Pope Francis knows what lack of justice and lack of love may cause. One needs only walk the streets he walked.
The Law says " lLove thy neighbour".The law says for instance " this x is what this x person should be paid for his job" . Now, feed a family with this salary…The world is huge,Mc Call. Thanks again for the homily.
