Hi.
I have a great uncle who passed away, and he requested in his last will and testament that he wants his funeral mass to be the TLM(EF).
Now I frequent the EF quite often in a parish that has it on Sundays, however I don’t know if I should contact one of the two priests who celebrate this, not sure if their schedule would allow it? And if they did would it have to be at a Church possibly further than the town which parish I belong too? Maybe I can call my parish priest and he could try to make an arrangement? I assume it would cost more but if this is his will we will respect it.
The man actually was going to SSPX masses for years but he actually began going to the OF about ten years ago I think because his health began declining. But I’m not about to contact the SSPX about this. Just was curious because noone else in my family has a clue how to make this happen( neither does the funeral director currently, guess he has never had a request like this personally so it is a first for him.)

Any suggestions would be great. We realize the services will probably have to wait longer than otherwise but we are going to respect his will.

This will give you a start. The data may not be 100% up to date, but it’s a start. Look for any parishes run by the FSSP or ICKSP. If all else fails, you could ask the SSPX about other Latin Masses in the area. They may know.

A TLM Requiem is very beautiful. I hope you all find it to be beautiful as well.

If the priests know you at the EF you attend they would be happy to give your loved one a proper Christian burial.

Yah I do know them and converse with them quite frequently after mass. I will start there.

Yeah, if you know them, that’s the best place to start. I’m sure one of them would be happy to conduct his funeral. And if they’re unable for some reason, I imagine they can direct you to someone who can.

I have made precisely such a provision in my will, have directed that the FSSP be contacted, and that any costs associated with it (travel, lodging for the priest, etc.) be paid out of my estate. To my knowledge, there is no priest locally who could celebrate the TLM, and the funeral home with which I have my pre-need arrangements has a chapel suitable for Mass. I can’t assume that any local parish would be willing to make their church available for my requiem Mass.

Deo volente, this will not become an issue for many years.
