That’s quite possible. Sometimes you have to leave in order to look at what you’re leaving objectively—or so it was with me.As for thinking of how far I could have gone, I have no doubt that leaving the RCC was the best thing I need at that point.

Clearly God doesn’t use incentives as you understand them. Jesus promised humiliation and persecution for those that followed Him: guess He needs to have you explain those “laws” to Him, 'cause by your standard He’s done a lousy job, what with that whole cross-thing.
