That IS a very interesting question! 👍

In the US, where we are under the lash of the NABRE Bible, where it says “highly favored one.” But in the Liturgy they abandon their own translation in favor of Hail, Full of Grace!

Your Bishops Conference has made the decision to stick with whatever translation of the Bible they are using in Australia, for better or worse.

This is one instance where the USCCB seem to get it right! 😃

Another instance is Isaiah 7:14. In their Bible it says “the young woman, pregnant, and about to bear a son, shall name him Emmanuel.” But in the Liturgy, Year A, 4th Sunday of Advent it says: “the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.”

Ooops! in my previous post I said the NABRE said “highly favored one”. That is wrong, it says “Hail favored one.” :rolleyes: So their departure from their translation in the liturgy for the Immaculate Conception is significant. 😃

I [ME personally here] suspect it flows through the KJB of the reformation period and subsequent translations.

I eariler posted the Latin Vulgate and the Douay bibles which BOTH use “Full of grace”

The 'highly favored one" seems to Me to be a depreciation of the Mother of OUR God:thumbsup:
