Hi,
I know someone here will be able to help me with this. I am a part of a living Rosary and this month I am doing the 4th Joyful Mystery: The Presentation. While doing my Rosary this morning I really noticed the sentence below in Luke:
“And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother. Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted”.
Two things: 1) Wasn’t Jesus sent for the resurrection of all people in Israel?
The second one has me really perplexed as I can’t understand how or why Jesus was set up to be contradicted as a sign of God’s promise made in the Old Testament. The translation I am reading is Douay-Rheims, in case someone has another translation to offer that would make this sentence clearer.
Thanks, in advance, to all those who help.
