Not long ago I read a defense of the real presence using Luke 22:19. “This IS my body, which WILL be given up for you”. It is clear here that the body that Jesus refers to, the bread in his hands, is the same body that will hang on the cross.
I thought to myslef that this is the simplest and yet most powerful proof from scripture of the real presence. I don’t see how this can be refuted by our non-Catholic friends.
Am I missing something?
Interestingly…in the NIV Bible Luke 22:19 omits the words “which will be” and simply says “this is my body given for you”.
Curious for your thoughts…Catholics and non-Catholics.
