St. Louis de Montfort lays out several different methods for saying the rosary, one of which was created for a particular religious order. Method number 1 uses a little prayer before and after each decade which offers the decade to Jesus or to the Holy Spirit, and asks God for the particular grace or virtue which is exemplified in that particular mystery.
For example, one would recite the first decade of the Joyful Mysteries (Incarnation) as follows:
We offer you, Lord Jesus, this decade in honor of your Incarnation. Through this mystery and the intercession of your holy Mother, we ask for humility of heart.
Our Father…
Hail Mary… (x 10)
Glory Be…
May the grace of the mystery of the Incarnation come into me and make me truly humble
The “Oh My Jesus” was not said at the time St. Louis de Monfort lived so he does not mention it.
Again, by way of example, the thrid decade of the Glorious Mysteries (Pentecost) would be recited as follows:
***We offer you, O Holy Spirit, this decade in honor of the mystery of Pentecost. Through this mystery and the intercession of Mary, your most holy spouse, we ask for your holy wisdom that we may know, taste and practice your truth and share it with everyone.
Our Father…
Hail Mary… **(x10)
**Glory Be…
May the grace of Pentecost come into me and make me truly wise in the eys of God. ***
So my querry here it to seek (name removed by moderator)ut about the Luminous Mysteries. Does anyone know if someone has created these little prayers for the Luminious Mysteries, so that these decades can be prayed using the same method, offering the decade to God and asking for the grace or virtue exemplified in that particular mystery? I would think that if anyone had done so, it would be Blessed Pope John Paul II who gave us the Luminous Mysteries, no? If not, I would be interested in ideas, what people think, are the virtures and graces exemplified in each the Luminous Mysteries. They are mysteries of light, of revelation, especially the revelation of Jesus as King, and the proclamation and establishment of the kingdom. Links to articles or books on this topic would be appreciated as well.
A worst case scenario is that I just write my own little prayers for use before and after each Luminous Mystery. It would be better - much better - if I got some good (name removed by moderator)ut on the pricipal virues and graces contained in each mystery, so that I could rough out some prayers. But I really hate to reinvent the wheel, especially if the subject has already been discussed by a saint or Pope.
I do plan on reading Bl. JPII’s apostolic letter which gave us the Luminous Mysteries, but in the meantime, any (name removed by moderator)ut would be appreciated.
