Letter to the Romans:

" All the churches of Christ salute you. 17 Now I beseech you, brethren, to mark them who make dissensions and offences contrary to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not Christ our Lord but their own belly: and by pleasing speeches and good words seduce the hearts of the innocent. 19 For your obedience is published in every place. I rejoice therefore in you. But I would have you to be wise in good and simple in evil. 20 And the God of peace crush Satan under your feet speedily."
What is your point? Are we seducers, leading people astray? Is this your answer to my questions “are we heretics”? You are amazing. You are one of the reasons people do not want to have anything to do with the RCC. That is a shame because many of us do want to grow, share, and learn from one another. But then again, it is hard to learn from someone else when you think you are the only one with the answers, isn’t it?

I agree with your assessment of the posts. He (she?) has been cautioned by other posters to tone it down.

Not all of us Catholics are this way. Some of us are nice. I am sure of it. They have to be around somewhere. When I find one, I will let you know. 😉

on the contrary if you knew me you would love me. i am honest and sincere. what i say is not to ofende anyone. i am greatfull that you are seeking the truth. for i know that is God who is directing you to the truth and i hope you find it.

:blessyou: :hug3: :signofcross:

Is an apology for the Counter-Reformation forthcoming as well? 🙂
I doubt we’ll ever see anything substantial coming from anybody. Everybody is too wrapped up in the “I’m right, you’re wrong” philosophy. We should concentrate on what different denominations have in common, not the differences. I bet the former far outweighs the latter.

Will you please stop avoiding my question and answer it. It is a simple question, so answer it. And by the way, I know the truth and it has set me free, so do not suppose that your “I’m right, you’re wrong” attitude is going to influence me one way or the other. I just want you to be honest about your feelings and answer my question with a “yes” or “no”.

I think you are barking up the wrong tree if you think you are going to get an forthright, or even charitable, answer.

But please do not think all of us Catholics are like this. Some of are nice. I am still looking but as soon as I find one, I will let you know! 😉

I guess if you consider him a heretic then all of us Protestants are. Would you agree with that.
Yes ,but Luther was not very Catholic. He knew nothing about humility. He was a prideful priest and many heresies were started by prideful Catholic priests, Hus, Arius, Zwingli, etc. etc.

Also, is pope Urban considered a heretic or damned when he took the call for a Crusade one step too far by saying that if you kill Muslim agressors you will get to heaven? .
Pope Urban II was not a heretic.

I certainly do not think all Catholics are like wisdomseeker and sword brethren: two people who are so well informed the rest of us (especially Protestans) are simply poor, pitiful peons who must bow for their brilliance. I know lots of Catholics, and nothing like what I experience on thise forum, from a few Catholics, goes on in our friendships. In fact, we make it a point to learn from one another, and to share our Christian walks in an open and honest way. Why can’t more people on this forum have your attitude? Where does it get anybody to be so condescending and rude as those other folks? Regardless, thanks for the encouragement. After all, isn’t that what we should all be doing for one another?

Because you ignored it. Here is what you said followed by my question:

Wow. So we (Protestants) are bound for hell because YOU consider us to be in a state of unbelief like Jews? Jews rejected Him as the Messiah, we do not, although I know you definitely know what I believe better than I do. Just please answer my question with a yes or no. Numerous people have said the rude things you have said, but they can never answer my question. They either ignore it or give some round-about answer. If you have the guts to bash us, then have the guts to answe the question: Do you think that Protestants are heretics who are bound for hell?

Why not? He taught something that was totally and utterly unScriptural. You know, that whole kill Muslims and you get forgiveness thing.
“Kill Muslims and you get forgiveness thing” is that a quote of Pope Urban II? Fighting a Holy Crusade is not unScriptural.

My goodness is there a reason for so much anger?
to tell you the truth i dont quite understand this question i just dont know what you mean by that. am i God to know who is going to hell or who doesnt?

BE MERCIFULL TO US, OH GOD!

If one dies in mortal sin one will be in hell. If one knows that the Holy Catholic Church is the True Church and does not join Her, there is no salvation for that person.

Believing Christ is God is not enough. The protestant faith rejects many of Christ’s teachings.

The “us” are my fellow Protestants. I suppose the only way we won’t face eternal damnation, by your viewpoint, is if we recant our heresy. Am I wrong?

.
The protestant faith is a false religion and thier Christ is a false Christ. protestants should leave thier false religion and come to Christ and His Church, the Catholic Church. If protestants left their faith and joined the Catholic Church then they would have the True meanings of salvation. But, one must remember that being a member of the Catholic Church is not enough. One has to live and die in grace.

Please quit being so condescending. You know exactly what I meant. I DO think the Crusades were legit, but it is undeniable that Pope Urban told the crusaders that killing a infidel (Muslim) is the path to heaven. He made it clear that doing so would absolve them of their sin. So, where is that in Scripture?

So you have determined our fate. It is good to know that you stand in God’s place where I and my “false religion” followers are coonsidered. Keep it up. You make this whole Christian thing lool real appealing for unbelievers.
