Luther was right

I know for one thing he was right about the perpetual virginity of Mary.

“Christ was the only Son of Mary, and the Virgin Mary bore no children besides Him. I am inclined to agree with those who declare that ‘brothers’ really mean ‘cousins’ here, for Holy Writ and the Jews always call cousins brothers.” - Luther’s Works Volume 22

But he did have some other ideas that were not right.
 
Luther held to his conviction that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist.

that’s why his 95 thesis bale in anger compared to the letters he wrote to his splintering followers.
 
Interestingly the picture on the wall is the Angelus a very Catholic Prayer.
What I thought was funny is that he uses Protestant writings to prove Scripture alone. He never explains that New Testament Scripture, in the form we know, did not exist for a couple of hundred years. What happened to those who did not have it? Nor does he address that Jesus said teach not write. A funny video though.
 
Luther was wrong. Christ established The Church to be the foundation of Christianity, not the bible. Scripture was to be “usefull for teaching” but not the final authority.

is agreed that they have rather frequently errred and have contradicted
themselves) I am defeated by the writings prompted by me, and my conscience
having been caught in the words of God, I am not able to retract nor do I want
whatever is neither safe nor upright, since it goes against my conscience.

But God did write, unless you believe that the NT is uninspired. The Gospels and the letters were passed from church to church copied and then fowarded to another church. Peter compares Pauls writtings to the OT scriptures and of cource the early church went to synogogue on Saturdays.

Why was Paul of Tarsus taking up collections on Sunday then?

No need for the attack. We as Catholics also believe that Scripture is 100% true.

I’d start another debate about the Authority of the Church + Scripture vs. Scripture Alone, but that’d be repeating about half of the topics on this board. An exaggeration, but you know what I mean.

So now what is true or moral is according to Luther’s conscience. That’s really what he is saying. All these “sola” statements are summed up as, “What I think is right.” Apply that to everyone and you have the source of all liberalism. “Truth is according to how I see it.”
