I sympathize with Martin Luther, especially since he did not intend on starting a new church. What’s happened since the Reformation is a different story. Catholicism has reformed itself, while Protestantism has splintered into thousands of competing denominations that sometimes don’t even view each other as belonging to the same religion. It makes one wonder if things would have been better without the Reformation, but then again, the Catholic church may have never had reason to reform itself without being challenged.

The ten year anniversary was relatively recent and if I’m not mistaken, the Vatican celebrated it. Nonetheless, I didn’t learn of it until recently.
