Thanks for all the info everyone, but the more I read, the more questions I have. So how can a person who is not a validly ordained Catholic priest consecrate the Eucharist? And to toss it on the ground for birds to eat… that doesn’t make me feel good, except that so have doubts that there is any presence in the first place when a Catholic Priest in not involved.

But this does not hold.

There are quite a few thousands of Catholic priests. Chances are that one “may” not believe in transubstantiation (whether he believes in consubstantiation or any other “ation” should not make a difference). Does this mean the entire Parish is not partaking in the Eucharist?

I think lack of intention is not as much of an issue as the lack of authority (Apostolic succession.)

No, I don’t. Only churches with valid apostolic succession (or authority, as Wolfie put it) have the Real Presence. No protestant sect has this. It’s good that they take Jesus at His word, but there’s more to transubstantiation than belief.

That is not correct. You should check again because in addition to pastors and ministers Lutherans also use the word priest. I have some Lutheran friends.
The same goes for Anglicans.
