Frankly, I’ve noticed this trend over the last decade or more and have been taking my Christmas shopping business to stores that understand and demonstrate they understand the reason for the season. If all Christians did that, you’d see these merchants cave in a New York minute.
We could make it happen!

Michael C:
I have asked all my friends and continue to ask people this time of year if they celebrate Kwanzaa. Please keep in mind I live and work in NY. I have not come across a single person that celebrates this holiday, not one. When I ask my black friends they laugh. I’m not sure who’s trying to shove this down our throat.
It is the politacally correct police that are in charge of this monitoring. Liberal left…

Also, Kwanzaa was started by a Black separatist and criminal who was convicted of torturing a woman.
Christmas was started by a convicted criminal, too.

No one is denying any of you the right to say “Merry Christmas”. You are all free to wish anyone a “Merry Christmas”. However, you do not get to decide the policies of the stores in regards to their greeters.
No, you are right. We don’t get to set store policy. However, we do get to influence their decisions by making our wallets do the talking.

Capice?

This year I’m trying to buy gifts from Christian stores. Christian Supply and Crown Books and Gifts are in the malls around here, plus there are a couple of Catholic gift shops (hours aren’t that great for the working person, though) and in Portland we have a great Catholic gift shop at a big shrine we have called The Grotto (it’s a shrine to our Lady).

Unfortunately for me, I don’t have any other Catholics in the family so don’t buy from there as much as I’d like.

I am sure you will be very popular with the children in your family!

Michael C:
That’s cold.
I had a little smiley there to denote that I was kidding. I guess when you type something it doesn’t always “sound” the way you want it to.

The Smilie should be placed at the end of the sentence. I think that was the problem.

I have been reading this thread and personally, I do not plan to support Macy’s or any other retailer who insists on engaging in political correctness. What ever happened to the majority? I guess we can thank the good ol ACLU for this. Which by the way, I can figure out the first two letters that stand for “Anti Christ”, the L for Lucifer and I am trying to think of something for “U”.

Also, I have a problem with retailers shoving the consumerism of Christmas way too early! They do not want to mention Christmas, but they do not mind decorating for Christmas in September so we can purchase our gifts from the retailers.

My family altogether decided not to exchange gifts this year. We decided to get together and also have a photo contest of pictures we have taken in the past year.

Give me a break-You are comparing Christ and a racist torturer of women-God help you gain some discernment.

I know you wanted the smile at the end, but I really laughed when I read it. I thought it was meant to be funny and it is!:rotfl:

Ya can’t give advice to some: “wise men don’t need it, and fools won’t take it.”

I really hate when it is called “the sparkle season”. It really gets on my nerves. Its basically a denial that it is even a special time.

I can tell you that I won’t be shopping at Macy’s this year.

On a personal note, I make it a point to respond “Merry Christmas” whenever someone wishes me a “Happy Holiday” or gives me “Season’s Greetings”. I wish my Jewish friends and neighbors a Happy Channukah because that is the holiday that they are celebrating. (I don’t deal in Kwanzaa because of its socialist roots. Besides, no one I know takes it seriously.)
Yesterday I placed an order by phone and was greeted with “Happy Holidays… How may I help you.” After I had placed my order I said: “So, you can’t say Merry Christmas anymore?” Her answer was “Well, it’s because people also celebrate Kwanzaa and Hannukah, Winter Soltice and all the other things.” Then I said “It’s because of Christmas that we have this holiday season. I wish you a Merry Christmas.” The clerk did not miss a beat and responded with “I wish you many Happy Holidays.” Oh well, I tried.

What I hate is Easter when our local mall sprinkles gold sparkle all over the beautiful while liles - they look like they’ve been out all night to some strip club.

Maybe Macy’s could say this to make everyone happy (I don’t exactly know how this goes, but I saw it on Nickelodeon once and it cracked me up):

Happy KwanzRamadaChristmaSolstHanukkah to all!

Then everyone can be happy! Again, please don’t correct me if I made a mistake, I tried… :o

I wouldn’t have given that company my business. Otherwise, nothing will change. You told this person you were a Christian and she still wouldn’t respect your holyday (a national holiday).

Christmas is the time of year when people of all faiths comes together to celebrate the birth of Santa Claus.
