Maine's Bishop Malone again ask for help and takes another collection to oppose gay marriage

The Bishop took one collection and now he has taken a second collection.

Those in favor of gay marriage have raised $800,000.

the end of the campaign finance reporting period on September 30th. They need another just under $100,000 to reach their goal. On ActBlue, that would take them over $800,000.

Catholic churches in Maine have become de facto campaign headquarters for the “Yes on 1” campaign. Yesterday, the Bishop delivered a taped message to his shrinking congregations and once again held collections to raise money for the anti-gay effort:

Kelly Maltz, a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish and St. Matthews Church, is one of many area Catholics who responded to Bishop Richard J. Malone’s plea at church on Sunday for funds to support Question 1, which would overturn the state’s same-sex marriage law.

Sadly; this reminds me many years ago in my country Canada when the fight to legalize gay marriages eventually fought its way to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Collectively many Christian churches joined together in the legal battle and lost.
Some Anglican congregations across Canada even split because a nominal number of Anglican ministers favored Gay Marriages. In the end of Canada’s nation wide legal battle my memory doesn’t serve me well seeing Catholic congregations across Canada raise monies for a legal battle. I do remember many Catholic groups supporting priests in this cause for moral justice. Even years ago when the Supreme Court of Canada officially legalized the statues of Gay Marriage; I knew it would just be a matter of time before Christians would be fighting this legal battle in the Supreme Courts of the United States. But what does one expect when the societal moral ethical fiber of any nation falls to serve an evil cause. When one sees the Cornerstone of Society, the (“Family Unit”) succomb to immorality anything that speaks about Sexual Ethics falls to disarray. May God and His angels help us.

“Gay Marriage” is another case of the watering down of traditional ways of western culture.

When people will not speak out for truth because of fear of being labeled “Politically incorrect” the culture is ultimately doomed to fall. Where is militant christianity?
Not just Catholics, but Protestants as well. Where are the National messengers of Christ like Billy Graham and Bishop Sheen? Christianity is a major part of of Western culture and is being allowed to wither by the same people charged with it’s preservation. I did not agree with the religious right when they were in their ascendancy and at their peak because they made politics more important than spreading the Gospel. Even today many so-called evangelicals and Catholics still seem more concerned with social and political issues than the Gospel of Christ which has the true transformative power politics lacks.
Main Line Protestant churches water down their own traditions and beliefs for a social fell good version which accepts openly homosexual individuals into their clergy and leadership. This flies in the face of tradition and the portion of membership which ultimately leaves disillusioned and alienated from their own churches. This is no small thing.

Recently I saw a picture in the Wall Street Journal of what looked to me to be a sea of Muslims praying toward Mecca in front of the U.S. Capital Building.
I thought to myself that if the American Christianity does not get more militant in promoting the gospel on a national basis and help stop the perversion of our culture,
I was looking at the future.
