Maine's Bishop Malone fighting pro-gay marriage catholics, Harry Potter,etc

Bishop Malone of Maine has asked for helped and the group Stand For Marriage has raise 1.2 million while the gay lobby has raised over 2.7 million.

If all the Catholics in the nation supported the Church as they should, this would have been shot down long ago.
 
Having lived in Maine and knowing the people I knew, I don’t see how this bill can be passed. I know as Catholics we are called to love the sinner and hate the sin but the Mainers I knew are some of the stoutest, hard-headed people I know. That’s not in anyway to say that all Mainers are predjudiced or that even the people I know are, they are just (rightly I belive) adimantly against homosexuality.

It is quite possibly that the voters will vote to keep gay marriage.

Maine has changed like the other New England states and the gay lobby as poured in 2.7 million which allows for a great deal of TV commercials and you can bet that the gays in Massachusetts will take vacation time and flow into the state to hold signs days before this vote.

I just hope some Catholics back this Bishop and send money to Maine but even if they do, it will not be much compared to what the gay lobby raises. Please go online and donate money or send a check.

Born and bred in Maine, I am so saddened to see that the state has been over run by the homosexual activists. Maine is very liberal, and while there may be many “hardheaded” Mainers who are against gay marriage, I think the vast majority are not going to the polls.
 
What on earth has Harry Potter to do with gay marriage? It removes any inclination to take the campaign seriously.
 
Maine’s Bishop Malone has been the leading voice for traditional marriage by taking collections and speaking out at events.

Since the Harry Potter books and movies are very popular, the gay lobby thought that because a main character, Dumbledore was declared to be gay by the author that this would be a good way to help their effort, probably aiming for young voters.
 
I was depressed to read in children’s books she addressed that fact with Dumbledore. I am pleased, however, that it was left out of the movies.

But back to the fact about voting its entirely possible that the people I’m familiar with aren’t going to the polls but at the same time, this is such a hot topic I would hope that it would be more inclined to bring people out.

In case anyone is left with the wrong impression, Dumbledore’s orientation isn’t addressed in any of the Harry Potter books. It’s just something J.K.Rowling said in an interview after the books were written.

While I appreciate what Bishop Malone has done in this campaign, he might try teaching the Truth day in and day out. If the priests in the Portland diocese would instruct their parishes all 52 weeks out of the year then perhaps we wouldn’t have so many “Catholics” voting No on 1. The number of “Catholics” that have written letters to the editor of the paper, expressing their dissent with the Church on the referendum is disturbing, and the responsibility for their catechesis falls on the shoulders of the bishops and the priests. JMO.

I agree somewhat.

Within immediate family, relatives argue with me when I say church teachings are opposed to gay marriage. Now they know what the church teaches but they think it is OK to keep their own views.

For years, I have felt that the Catholic newspapers of which there are a many in NE should not publish this kind of dissent but they do and say it is OK to publish these different points of views. I say it it not and if the newspapers occasionally allow such a letter, it should have a great big follow-up of chastisement on what is Church teaching.

If you live in the Northeast you are used to the fact that a great deal of money for the elections come from out of state donors usually for democrat candidates and for issues that they support.

Finally after all these years, this Bishop is asking for help and where that comes from is fine.

I would love to post pictures of all the cars and buses that will flow into Maine loaded with supporters for gay marriage and who will stand on the streets holding signs as if they are residents of that state.

Catholic Governor Baldacci, who voted in favor or gay marriage, said in the radio interview that approximately 8,000 gay rights supporters have come into the state and are canvassing door to door.
