This listing is amazing!! Thank you all for your ideas! If people have more, by all means add them on.

God bless.

Lifehouse with their song ‘Everything’
Jeff Buckley does an absolutely amazing cover of Leonard Cohen’s halleluia! so does Jason Castro.
I love Hillsong United’s ‘Lead Me To The Cross’ is good too!

if you want something heavier/louder, try mewithoutyou! The lyrics in their Brother, Sister album is pretty amazing- there’s a lot of Biblical references and i adore this one lyric ‘if ever You come near I’ll hold up high a mirror
Lord, I could never show You anything as beautiful as You’

but they aren’t a christian band. they sing about a more personal relationship with God, they are very honest. Putting it simply the main singer loves God but seems to hate himself. but i’ve been looking and reading some of their interviews lately, he seems to be a really great person.
The song Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley is in no way Christian. The song does, in fact, mention God but in an agnostic sense: “Maybe there’s a God above, but all I ever learned from love…”

mewithoutYou is an incredible band that might as well be labeled Christian. I don’t think Aaron Weiss has written a single song that is not in some way about God. He is a very humble man whom I greatly admire (and have met).

Paper Tongues - The songs “Trinity” and “Get Higher” have lyrics that can be interpreted as Christian. Though mainstream, they have had airplay in Christian formats. The front-man is worship leader at his church.

The indie group, Stars Go Dim, have been growing in popularity, they have had airplay on Channel 1, MTVU and JCTV. Though a mainstream band, the members are all Christian. Check out “Like I Mean It”. Great song with a powerful message about serving others.

Jars of Clay had mainstream success before they did in the Christian market.

Ed Kowalczyk, formerly of the 90’s band Live, just put out a solo album, he was raised Catholic and recently reverted to his faith. Check out the song “Grace”.

Haha, that’s hilarious. It just goes to show…if you are a mainstream artist, never label yourself religious or innocent or whatever or it’s gonna backfire on you when the skeletons are out of the closet (i.e. Evanescence, Miley, Britney, Jessica, etc.)
I know this post is from a very long time ago, but if ever a non-believer were to view this forum and see this post it would just reinforce the stereotypical thoughts about Christians.

Do you somehow feel that there are certain “skeletons” in anyone’s closet that are “unforgivable” ??

We all need to humble ourselves and see a person for who they are NOW.
NOW they are believers in Christ and are made NEW. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” Matthew 7:3
