What? Never heard that one before. All this from a guy who claimed to see Captain Kidd sailing down the Susquehanna River…![]()
Read the book by Grant Palmer…What? Never heard that one before.
Yes, mormonism is made up. It was made up by Joseph Smith and his buddies. This is all made up!!!
Mary: I think I would just state things honestly and to the point like your post. It was very nice and non- confrontational. My wife converted to Mormonism from jehovahs witness about seven years ago. We have come to a mutual understanding that our beliefs do not line up with each other, but we respect each other. I’m Catholic, and here is my mistake. :
Several months ago, a very nice person from her church asked me if I would be interested in working with their boy scout troop. Since I thought it would be a neutral thing I agreed to help out.
Well, I’ve been doing it now for three months, and the undercurrent of trying to get me involved in their church is getting quite discouraging.
My main focus was perhaps doing something outside of the religion that we both could be together with, but no.
The religion plays a HUGE part in their scouting program, and I feel if I just walk away my wife will develop that religious haughty attitude that the mormons are famous for. ( Believe me it really gets thick at times).
How can I walk away, and preserve the respect, and/or mutual understanding that has developed during the past few months between my wife and the mormon people?
I’m not trying to be a jerk about this, just want to end it on a decent note.
**From An Insider’s View of Mormon Origins by Grant H. Palmer:What? Never heard that one before.
I looked…the map said the capital is Moheli, not Moroni…**From An Insider’s View of Mormon Origins by Grant H. Palmer:
he [Joseph] saw Captain Kidd [the pirate] sailing on the Susquehanna River during a freshet, and that he buried two pots of gold and silver. He claimed he saw writing cut on the rocks in an unknown language telling where Kidd buried it, and he translated it through his peepstone…[and] dug for Kidd’s money, on the west bank of the Susquehanna, half a mile from the river… Jo became known all over New York and Pennsylvania. Sometimes his brothers were with him… Jo and his father were all the time telling of hidden things, lead, silver, and gold mines which he could see.**
Also, Captain Kidd was known to travel to the Island of **Comoros **and the capital of Comoros is…Moroni. If you don’t believe me, look at a map of Southern Africa.
Ok, I have to get this book…LOL**From An Insider’s View of Mormon Origins by Grant H. Palmer:

How Ironic that the capitol Is Moroni, in South Africa, and they had a ban on blacks and the priesthood.
Just amazing, and just when I thought I had heard it all.
How did -anybody- take this guy seriously. He’s obviously a wacko… This has made my head hurt, but it’s nice to have a bit more information about them, makes it easier to debate XDOh, there’s more!

**Palmyra natives Philetus B. Spear and Pomeroy Tucker both recall (though decades later) that Smith enjoyed reading about Captain Kidd and his adventures. Historian James H. Tucker, in his 1888 book Early Day of Mormonism, writes that the autobiography of Captian Kidd “made a deep impression upon [Smith].”
Joseph Smith and his family were intimately involved in “money-digging,” a practice where hidden treasure was sought using diving rods or seer stones. On some of their money-digging ventures, it appears the Smiths were after Kidd’s treasure. Several sources attest to this, but the earliest is an 1844 letter to Joseph Smith by his former Vermont neighbors: “If you studied piracy while digging for the money your Father pretended old Bob Kidd [William Kidd was also known as Robert or Bob] buried, you should also have studied the fate of the pirates.”**
