To get back to topic, the original poster needs to have a good understanding of his own faith and to be well catechised. He also needs to make it clear that he is not going to become mormon both to his wife and the very nice person who got him involved in the first place. I can imagine his wife will have a great deal of hope invested in her husband’s involvment with the scout troop, just the first step towards conversion that she obviously hasn’t been able to achieve over the past 7 years by other means.He must take thisseriously and be totally and gently honest.

Dear Mercury

I don’t think you need to walk away from the LDS community, you just be what you are and do what your heart says… you are your best guider, listening to others will not provide the best solution coz they all have their own beliefs, reservation, hatred and love for what they believe.

Pray as often as you can and listen to the holy spirit, I promise you you will be prompted and guided to make your own decision.

If you your wife has taken to opportunity to join Mormonism, it’s her freedom of choice which should not be frustrated coz at the last days the Lord will hold us responsible for forcing someones free agency.

We are all accountable for our own acts, your wife will be rewarded whatever you decision has taken and so you.

Ah yes, thank you for this pointed observation. I have realised some weak areas in my faith and am working on them.
Constantly having to put up a courteous/calm defense over the past years is quite draining to me. Hopefully I can end this soon.

Yes, the early teachings on Jesus being married were very clear.

But, as they said, don’t preach it - too controversial to outsiders I guess.
