Reading the writings of the early Church fathers was particularly impactful for her, since she said they were so clearly Catholic. She also realized that the Catholic Church’s teaching about the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist was more biblical than she thought. Finally, she said she decided to become Catholic rather than Eastern Orthodox after being convinced of the truth of the papacy by Steve Ray’s book Upon This Rock.

Praying that she is serious about her decision and will be strong enough to stand up to those who will try to convince her not to be Catholic!

Last year I used her LizziesAnswers video “Ten lies Protestants believe about Catholics” in one of my classes. I never expected her to convert. She’s living proof that John Henry Cardinal Newman was right when he said, “To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant.”

I will have to check out the new videos she produces after swimming the Tiber.

So glad she’s finally doing it! I heard she considered converting, but she said she would most likely become Orthodox rather than Catholic. Good to hear she changed her mind.
 
I am always a sucker for a good conversion story, but this girl is really one of the best. As a grumpy old man, I am quite surprised I enjoy her videos so much.
 
Interestingly, her statement that Upon This Rock was a reason for her to choose Catholicism seems to have caused a spike in sales for it (as of this posting, the book is listed as “temporarily out of stock” on Amazon).
 
Praise God in all his Glory… The human intellect is an amazing thing! If one opens their heart to truth, Our Heavenly Father never disappoints!

I don’t think this is uncommon. Once you start thinking there is an ‘Ancient Church’ that continues to this day you have the choice of Orthodoxy and Catholicism. Being Western, where the Pope is widely condemned in Protestantism, Orthodoxy is easier. I don’t mean to say that Protestant converts don’t have, in their mind honest, good reasons for choosing Orthodoxy. But it is easier as you don’t have the idea of a single Bishop with universal jurisdiction. I think Orthodoxy is often a first step in the converts mind before Catholicism.
