If you partially charge a battery over and over again…like 25 times…than I can see how this could weaken it (because part of it might fail due to underuse.) Just this once – you aren’t going to hurt anything.

Most “rules” on how to treat rechargeable batteries are more superstition than anything.

I will say however, that this theory was proven true when we bought the shark vac…it was a small unit for cleaning the kitchen, tile…etc…well, we needed to charge it for 21 hours? I didn’t think it could be serious…so, after about 17 hours, we tried it…it worked for about 20 minutes. Then, the next day, it didn’t work at all. So, for the longer charges, maybe there is some truth in it? I took the vacuum back, and bought one that plugs into the wall! :)*

My mom went through 3 Shark vacs. None worked longer than 1 or 2 charges. It’s not you…it’s the Shark vac. They are junk!

We’ve all seen those “As Seen on TV” gadgets in stores and magazines, right? Well… I saw one that I was CERTAIN would make my life a little easier. It was a little folding hand saw… with a special edging on the blade. Guaranteed to cut through bricks, concrete, steel re-bar, wood, old rubber tires… and so forth and so on.

When I first saw it… I thought “WOW. That would make it so easy to replace the tennis balls on Mom’s walker”. (You’ve all seen the tennis balls on aluminum walkers… I’m sure. Well, guess what. They have to be replaced about every 3 weeks! And it’s not easy, cutting through a tennis ball!).

Ok… so I send away for the SPECIAL saw (the one “guaranteed” to make my life easier!) :D… and finally, it arrives! Guess what?

Not only did it NOT cut through a regulation tennis ball… it didn’t even make a DENT in it! :ehh: Even though I put ALL of my weight, into trying to cut through. Darn thing is supposed to slice through BRICKS? But it won’t slice through a tennis ball?

LOL–Yes, I know…I did buy the magic bullet, and that works great for smoothies. (and chopping veggies and grinding coffee beans) But, other than that…I m skeptical to try anything else from tv…*

Presuming it was a Lithium Ion battery, it’s because the battery doesn’t age as much when stored at around 40%. This results in a longer lasting battery overall for the customer.

Your laptop was probably ready to use because the battery was around 40% charge. So that means it would work “out of the box.”

***Perhaps it’s much simpler than all of this…perhaps it is to instill patience in the customer. 😊 😃

I can’t even believe I got so upset over this yesterday…funny, what a day will do…make you realize that it’s not worth getting upset over. But, thank you for sharing that, it helps to understand why. ***
