The Gallup Poll reported Friday that 51 percent of Americans now call themselves “pro-life” rather than “pro-choice” on the issue of abortion, the first time a majority gave that answer in the 15 years that Gallup has asked the question.

This is a step in the right direction. However, many are not voting that way. They may be “pro-life”, but they are not taking political action based on those beliefs yet. It does give a person hope for the future though.

I read about this on another discussion forum. This is good news! This trend will eventually translate into political changes, be patient and pray.

I’m not surprised about this. The pro-choice people tend to abort their children more. Children that were born instead of killed, because their mother chose life, tend to be grateful for their life and probably more inclined to be pro-life!

Good news for sure, but we need to be cautious. Did Gallup define pro-life and pro-choice or was it up to the individual to make the definition? Many people have claimed to be “personally pro-life” but are also open to certain elements of legalized abortion.

Question , if this were really true than why do we have an anti life president?? 🤷

Exactly , there may be loopholes in the questions. If those 51% of Americans were really prolife, not just those who are prolife for themselves but think women should have a choice, then we would have a prolife president.

Well, they may be pro-life. But, that issue is probably not as important as others as well. Like they might say “I’m pro-life, but if the other guy is pro-choice and supports (insert any other position) then i’ll vote for him.”

The pole, may ask if they are pro-life. But, it doesn’t ask how important the issue is to them.

I think that during the election people like Kmiec, Biden etc…succeeded in clouding the issue among less committed Christians and anti-Republican sentiment was running pretty high.

Now with 70+ bishops speaking out against Obama’s Notre Dame honor, FOCA etc…people have become more thoughtful.

Also, it seems as if more anti-Catholic commentary is in the papers, tv, … the Tom Hanks movie, reporting on the Pope, how Catholics elected Obama…people may be beginning to take sides.
