(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) I want to make green scapulars for my parents for Christmas. I live in the Philippines where it’s very hot and humid and it’s my understanding that you can wear a metallic scapular in such tropical places. I want to make one that looks more traditional and vintage but sturdy, so I want to cross stitch one where the ‘clothing material’ is a type of plastic but looks like a type of cloth ro the eyes until you touch it. Can I make a green scapular via cross stitching? This type of plastic cloth is used for stitching small items or items not to be framed so it’s sturdy and doesn’t fringe at the sides.
Since it’s not a traditional scapular originating from Catholic habits, does it have to be made of wool and shaped in a square/oval?
Can I make a cross stitch of this embedded into everyday materials or things like key chains, coffee mugs, etc? Because they will not use nor keep a scapular necklace but I want to make one embedded in something I know they will use often, keep, and treasure. I want them to always see it as a reminder but not necessarily look or worn like a traditional scapular to encourage their interest.
Below are pic samples but I will make the design and prayer in line with that of a green scapular:
