Perhaps there is more. We can only comment on what is reported until more is revealed.

One does not perform sniff tests in teenage boys’ locker rooms. Trust me.

This is stupid. I’ve overseen dozens of locker rooms during changing before PE.

Nobody is looking AT students. You’re there to make sure they’re not screwing around or being dangerous.

And students changing is about the most benign thing they do - at least in the boys’ locker room. In, out, as subtly as possible, and done.

The guide also accepts the left’s legal arguments that laws that use the word “sex” should be understood instead to mean “gender,” and says the school district will ignore the Trump administration’s reversal of Obama-era U.S. Department of Education rules that required schools to do this in the absence of any legal authorization whatsoever.
My understanding is that transgender people tend to want to avoid the word “sex” because it refers to the mostly immutable biological classification. I’d have to look at reinterpreting the word “sex” partially as a move to further obscure one’s trans status.

I might have found myself in the same position as the gym teacher; in the community in which I am from it is recognized that women tend to be more at risk for sexual abuse, and outside of a male caregiver getting a very young child dressed or a few other scenarios (ex:medical examination) no man is to have access to a female child in an unclothed state.

True, unless a girl is allowed to enter that locker room while the boys are in various states of disrobed. Then the dynamic changes.
If it were my son in that locker room, I would be looking into a sexual harassment suit against the school district.

Definitely. It was always common sense until recently that boys and girls have separate lockers. That is until actiivists decided they knew better than the rest of us and imposed their lunacy on us. Someone comments in the article that counselors and school psychologists are a main force behind these policies throughout the country. Just another instance of child psychologists causing more harm than good. Just because they have some credentialed piece of paper does not mean they know any more what is good for kids than parents or teachers.

Just because they have some credentialed piece of paper does not mean they know any more what is good for kids than parents or teachers.
It also doesn’t mean they know more than nature and science.
Fact: it is determined even before birth whether one is male or female. This never changes, cannot be changed, even by surgery. Physical appearance can be altered, but not gender.

I have had several debates recently about ‘reality’. Interesting how a very smart person I know is trying to challenge just what reality is related to this topic. “Reality” to me is outside the person (which is a Thomistic perspective"). “Reality” to the person I’m debating is kind of “Kant-ian”, with them saying “reality to a transgender person” is how they feel about themselves. There seems to be a push from people with his perspective to minimize my perspective, and in the case of the teaching in the OP, actually force their perspective on others

On the topic of nature there are some inconsistent lines of arguing that I have heard.

I’ve heard some argue that people don’t choose to be transgender. There’s something internal that makes them really a boy/girl. That’s a nature argument. But then I also hear it argued that gender is a totally made up social construct and that anyone can choose what ever argument that they want.

I tried asking a friend of mine about this specific case. He said that the gym teacher was making the trans student feel different and that I needed to view things more objectively. “But if there is a room full of partially clothed people which each have a penis and a partially dress person without a penis isn’t that last person different from all the others? More so of puberty has caused secondary sex traits to develop?” The conversation ended there; the person’s response to that question was that there was no further feedback to be provided and I needed to stop trying to reach (not sure what was meant by “reach” here).

Stuff like this is part of the reason this is my last year teaching. Time to move on

Yes I know dedicated teachers who at one time loved their job but moved on because they could not take any more of the nonsense.

Am I the only one who thinks teachers should not be in the changing roomi?
