Malicious Roommate

Please pray for me. For the past several months, I’ve been struggling with an increasingly malicious and noxious roommate. She knows I have health problems, and has been making them worse in underhanded ways (waking me up at night, deliberately provoking me, trying to bother me every chance she gets, knowing how stress affects me, too). I know the landlord is not going to renew her lease, but in the meantime, I don’t see what I can do. She just denies it when I’ve tried to call her out on it, and she acts like everything’s my fault, but she won’t even leave me alone. Every little chance she gets, she’ll do something to hurt me. Just yesterday, she closed the doors when I was trying to bring my laundry in, knowing that I couldn’t turn the knobs with the load in my hands (no basket). I dropped stuff outside, got more stressed because now I need to wash those again. I’m in physical pain, and it seems like every time I start to get better, she’ll come after me more aggressively than ever. And she laughs about it. I think the devil is inspiring this young woman. I was nothing but nice to her until she seriously started damaging my health. For months, though, I didn’t think it was on purpose, just that she was very inconsiderate, selfish…but not so much malicious until about 2-3 months ago. Since then, for whatever reason, she’s made it very clear she’s doing it on purpose.

Sorry for the long ramble, but I’ve just been under so much stress, and this morning, I have this twitch in my lip, which hasn’t happened in some time. I’m at my wit’s end. I started seeing a counselor last month to help me deal with the stress, but I had this week’s appointment canceled on me, and I won’t see her again until next Tuesday.

Please pray that this person simply leave me alone. That’s all I want now, just to get through the next month and a half until she leaves. If she will just leave me alone. I feel about to snap at her, and my spiritual life has been badly affected to. I’m constantly on the verge of snapping, irritable, tearful, angry, sad… I’m scared about my health, and scared I’ll permanently lose the progress I’ve made, physically and spiritually, over the last year or so. I’m trying to stay close to God, going to Mass daily now, praying the rosary…but I’m just barely hanging on.

Prayers and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading this far. God bless.

Praying for you

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle,
be our safe-guard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host,
by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan
and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end
Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel,

Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.

and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.

Hi Felicity,

Prayers said for you.

May God bless you during this stressful time for you.

Believe it or not there is a condition known as “Just Anger.” It is acceptable in some cases to lose one’s temper and “snap back” I am of the opinion that as long as you tolerate the abuse the longer it will go on or get worse. There is the path of getting a restraining order, also. As long as you do not lose your own self control I guess I would get let her know in no uncertain terms that you have had enough harassment and taking legal action to stop it. Even 'though your roommate is leaving soon take a firm stand against her sick behavior. She could be made to leave now with a restraining order. Remember that Old song, Take this Job and …it, I’m not gonna take it anymore." Well, it is the same in life. Just determine that you are not gonna take it anymore.
Yes, it is easy to give advise from a distance, but not always easy to take it as you are fragile, but as wonderful as prayers, are sometimes YOU must make those prayers to work for you.
When I post a response I feel a little tug at my heart and try to add something to the post other than prayers alone. You do have my prayers. If you need someone to talk to you can PM me through this forum using my post name and I will get back to you.👍

God, our loving Father, you sent your Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to counter
all the forces of evil: sin, suffering and death, and to overcome evil with the force of good;
hatred with the power of love, your great love for us in Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen

✞

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

✞

In the name of The Father and The Son and The Holy Spirit AMEN

Thank you, everyone. Mary Estelle, I did PM you, thanks. I tried staying away from the house as much as possible today, and thankfully she has not been home from what I can tell. I am praying that she stays away as much as possible, and that she goes back to wherever she came from as soon as possible.

I’m looking into setting up a retreat, or finding one, so I can get away. Unfortunately, I’m not coming across many. If anyone knows good resources for this, I’d be much obliged if you could refer me. I don’t have a ton of money, but I am willing to travel a little, hopefully keeping to the Western states, or at least the South.

Amen.

I’m sorry to keep posting, but stuff keeps coming up - right now it’s my health. But thanks, everyone - she has been staying away! 🙂

But I’m starting to realize just how much she’s been affecting me. Even when I hear something and think it’s her returning, my body is having some kind of PTSD reactions. (I have PTSD from past traumas.) A terrible swooping fear in my gut, adrenaline shooting through, panicky feelings. I literally think of running into my room and hiding. It’s unbearable that she is causing such infantile reactions in me. When she confronted, it got really, frighteningly bad. But now she’s gone, and I’m still reacting.

I don’t know what to do, but I’m trying to stay close to God, praying, reading the Bible, attending daily Mass…

But I have heart problems, and I’m worried about how badly my heart is still doing now that she’s gone. Right now, for about 2 minutes, I’ve had pains, right around my heart, and though my pulse is steady, it gets worse every time I take a deep breath. I think the traumas of my past are being triggered by this, and my body is reacting as if I were in more danger than I am. And my heart can’t seem to handle that right now.

Please pray for grace and healing so that I can handle this situation appropriately, physically as well as in other ways. Especially when she comes back.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end

It sounds like you’re beginning to have anxiety attacks due to the problems with her. If there’s any way to extricate yourself from the living situation, I would do so.

Continue prayers.

AKDee, I would like nothing better. I’m on a lease, too, and I can’t break it (besides, I’ve lived at this place for years, and it’s been a good situation for me. Since she’s moving out at the end of June, I don’t think it would be a good idea to move out.) But I have scheduled a retreat for next week, thank God. So I’ll have at least a few days away from her.

Unfortunately, I don’t get to leave for another week. I’m going to see if I can find some other way to get away, before and after. And pray that she continues to stay away. I know things can’t continue the way they’ve been lately, not all the way until the end of June, when her lease is up.

Thanks again for your prayers. BTW, I’ve added all of you to my rosary intentions.

Many blessings.
