Malkin caught in more lies

On my property I choose to honor Jesus during the Christmas season with a nativity scene… heck I might decide just to put the baby Jesus on display. On my property I don’t choose to honor Mary or St Francis with a statue. That becomes a choice of what to do with my property. (All hypothetical because I don’t decorate my outside)

This is too reminiscent of areas of the US where people are allowed to put ghouls and goblins out for Halloween but Nativity scenes are protested against.
It’s not nice that Mother Theresa wasn’t honored, but why would people have a say in private property?
 
The Catholic League and Bill Donahue have every right to proyest this insult to one of the greatest Catholic subito santos.If he had a policy of honouring no one you would have a point but honouring murdering Mao and not the Saint of Calcutta makes him look like a fool and the attention that this issue is garnering worldwide can’t be good for business.Malkin’s hypocracy not his sacrosanct property rights have been exposed.

I would like to see this tribute, but I’d stop short of demanding someone else do it against their wishes. What a dangerous world it would be when others get to demand YOU do something you don’t want with your property.

I agree with you whole heartedly on this, it would be nice for him to allow the tribute but do we really want him to knuckle down to any requests in the future over this?

The point being that he entertains and approves many requests.,this is not something unique.He has honoured the Chinese Revolution and the massmurderer and serial killer Mao but he can’t honour one of God’s best Friends?I have no idea what religion if any Mr Malkin espouses but this beautiful nun transposed all religions and even athiests and agnostics loved her.That is what is so puzzling and disheartening about this whole mess.If Malkin said NO ONE is to be honoured then three cheers for him and his property rights but he does not deny this honour to others so why deny it to this gentle and earth changing nun.Please don’t bore me with a rehash of inviolable property rights.This just seems so mean,petty,spiteful and completely unnecessary.All its done is created ill-will on all sides and I’m sure Mother Theresa could care less but those of us who love her are distressed that a murderer is honoured but not a servant of the poor.While I don’t relish the thought of a demonstration outside the greatest icon of America,I can’t really blame Bill Odonahue and the Catholic League for democratically and legally expressing theior displeasure.Perhaps if nothing else tyhis will disuade others from dissing MT and the Cathol;ic Church.We have every right to be at the centre of the public square and it is our duty to do so.

There are many good points here. I agree that the building is private property, and also that it is a business serving millions.

I don’t like calling someone a bigot, even if it is true, which has not been really proven. Perhaps the religious reason was given because because the other honorees had more universal fame?

I would like to see Mother Theresa honored, but I would certainly not commmit a sin of judgement or slander to further the cause.

I don’t think it’s judgement or slander here…I, for one, would like to know what his motives are. More as an oppertunity for him to tell us the truth…before I put stuff out there for people to NOT visit the Empire State Building. If he doesn’t want to…well, it’s with in our right to ask people to to pay him anything and to boycott the building. Much as I would encourage everyone to NOT purchase the Da Vinci Code books.

The property owner does not believe in property rights. He celebrated a bloodthirsty communist regime who not only denied people of their property rights, the regime denied people of their right to life.

We’re just holding him to his own belief system. Since he doesn’t believe in property rights, what right does he have to deny Donahue’s request? 🙂

Interesting where leftists show their bigotry, against a Nobel prize winning humble nun who helped out the poor in Calcutta.

I can be a million dollars that the owner is pro-abortion and win.

I don’t know if Malkin is a leftist or not.

If I owned the building I would have a policy of declining all such requests, even seemingly valid ones.

I believe you are trying to ascribe motives for which you have no proof. Only God knows what is in his heart. It is very judgemental to speculate on motives, and slander to make unfounder accusations. It is also very wrong to spread rumors, especially those which are personal opinion.

John Paul was honored. Perhaps there were more requests for honoring the others.

Why not write to him?

You are telling me that I am slander him? Balony! Oh–by the way–I HAVE written him! And it’s not slander to ask people to boycott…but first I would like to allow him an opportunity to explain himself. If it was as simple as you say above…then he should have no problem.

And don’t tell me again that I’m slandering someone…I take offense to that!:mad: I think you are judging me!

If you expect to be taken seriously then use the sense that God hopefully gave you.I and and I presume others are giving you the benefit of your"(hopefully)undeveloped and callow youth.Post something like that again and I and others will complain to the moderator that we have been called bigots and slanderers and we’ll let the mod deal with it.I demand that you apologise to the posters that you have so egregiously offended.

Define “all such requests”

If you mean “requests from ANYONE to light up the building” I can understand that.

But when he opened up the building for outsiders to make requests, that was his choice, and has made it into a public accomodation, similar to when someone opens up their restaurant to the public. A restaurant owner can’t say “no blacks allowed” or “no Catholics allowed”

What this owner is doing is saying “No Catholics allowed” after previously allowing them.

Would a woman of her caliber really want people fighting over lighting up some human edifice in her honor? I sincerely doubt it.

Those who want to honor her would do well to go live and act as she did…
