An Italian man hung up the phone on Pope Francis twice thinking he was being pranked, but later apologised to him for his error, the Vatican newspaper, l’Osservatore Romano, has reported.

The pontiff, who often contacts strangers who write to him or whose problems he hears about, called Franco Rabuffi on Monday to comfort him as he was sick.

How would you know it’s really the Pope?

I’d probably do the same too. 😛

I suppose he would have to reveal something from the letter Mr Rabuffi had written to him for him to believe it.

What’s so awesome is that the Pope not only called this man but called him THREE times before he got through with his message! We have an awesome Pope! God Bless the Pope and the entire clergy!:yup:

I saw this story earlier. I don’t know why, but it makes me chuckle to picture Pope Francis looking bewildered at the phone upon hearing the dial tone, and then shrugging his shoulders and dialing the number again. And again. :rotfl:

God bless Pope Francis.

By checking caller ID? 🙂
Caller ID’s can be faked. I’ve gotten calls where the ID showed I was calling myself, but I elected not to answer.

I guess this just shows one of the drawbacks of making cold calls. If the pope called me directly, (unlikely), I would probably ask to speak to his secretary just to make sure.

Or you can ask to speak to his Boss? 🙂

:rotfl: That’s a funny image indeed, but touching in a way. 🙂
