I was watching the moring news and it showed a short clip of a man jumping the security barricade as the Pope was driving by in the open Popemobile waving to the crowd. The many jumped and grabbed the back of the vehilce but was wrestled to the ground by security. It did not look like the Pope was aware of the scuffle behind him.

Does anyone know any more to this story?

good that he has a good security team.! why would that guy want to attack the pope?

Not a sniff of this story in the news here - typical.

Thanks be to God that the Pope wasn’t hurt at all :crossrc:

Reminds me of Third Secret of Fatima. Some people get a pride and joy out of attacking the holy father. Pray for these heathens and accursed people. They falsely style themselves ‘good catholics’ but they aren’t. We had the gunning down of a priest and three deacons in Mosul, Iraq! And now this? How stupid is our society? Not very smart apparently.

I saw it ,too. News doesn’t say too much about the man…was he attempting to hurt thr Pope or get next to him?? I guess we’ll know more later…

I will be interested to hear what they discover about the man and his motives. All I’ve heard so far is that they feel he is “mentally unstable”.

Well - I should think so!!

Having watched the video, that was my first question. He may have just wanted to touch the Pope. Still, really stupid move in this day and age.

I think we need to pray for his saftey daily! I know most of us do anyway, but this kind of thing really is a wake up call.

I Love Holy Father so much, and the thought he could have been hurt…

I will pray for that man too. He must be very mentally imbalanced. He also was wearing a pink shirt my DH said. That is weird enough.

While I agree that it is objectively weird for anyone (male or female) to wear pink, it is actually fashionable these days, so it’s not uncommon.

Peace,

I think its very OBVIOUS to say that the man did want to harm the Holy Father.

What lead you to that conclusion? I’m not arguing, just curious.

From what I saw, he had to struggle over a barricade and landed in the arms of a police officer (white shirt, not the black suited runners along the car). He never got close enough to know his intentions.

That said, anyone running up like that would be assumed to be a threat and be taken out like he was.

It was on the Today Show (NBC) in the U.S.

I agree, it is a wake-up call to pray for our Holy Father’s safety and the safety of all the clergy and religious. Many of the religious are in the most dangerous countries and situations, and I believe that just a short time ago, an American nun was murdered.

We need to increase our prayers for the Holy Father’s safety and protection. Thanks be to God that he wasn’t injured or killed!
