Even in the face of pleading from members of Catholic clergy, the Pope is advocating abstinance from condoms. Does he think that that will stop people from having sex? The sex drive is biologically only after the drive for survival and is innate. The drive for religion is aquired and is dissimilar over the world, only 33% of whose population is even Christian of any sort. In the perception of many people I’ve talked to, it appears that the Pope is conducting a campaign of genocide and suicide.

It matters not that there is a moral rule against illicit intercourse in that people do it regardless of “the rules.” Look around in your own Catholic congregation. It says (in one translation) that “The wages of sin are death.” So is this now to be deliberate? It makes the issue kind of black and white in more ways than one. On the other hand, the world is, by some standards, overpopulated…We might even benefit by this in the States: fewer people to be charitable to. Is that the point?

Pope Benedict is enough of a realist to understand that many people will not listen to him. This does not affect his duty to speak the truth.

Condom usage doesn’t stop the spread of aids. The only way to stop the spread of aids is to teach people to be monogomous, that women are valuable for more than sex, that sex is sacramental and that fidelity is honorable. The Pope speaks the Truth. Humans are NOT animals. We are NOT slaves to our sex drive. We CAN make better choices. To assume people in 3rd world countries CAN’T make those choices, is to short change them and is a bit racist, in my mind. It takes education and NOT throwing condoms at them. Condoms give a false sense of security, if you can even get the men to use them. I wish they would look around at their society and see all the orphaned children and ask themselves if sex is SO important to them to ruin so many lives?

Giving condoms to the people in Africa would only lead them to a false sense of security when in reality, condoms don’t protect against the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The Pope is no dummy when he says condoms will only make the situation worse.

The magazine “First Things” on their blog linked to an article written for the magazine in April 2008 by Edward C. Green, who is the director of the AIDS Prevention Research Project at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies.

From a purely secular point of view, it is … irrefutable.

Read it and weep, Catholic- and Benedict-bashers.

The fact is that the use of condoms is a mortal sin regardless of whether one has AIDS or not. For those with AIDS/HIV it would probably also be sinful for them to even have sex as they are putting their husband/wife at risk of getting a deadly infection. Even marital relations with condoms due to one having AIDS/HIV is a bad thing because it is like playing Russian roulette. Condoms can and do fail and they fail at an astounding rate which is something like 18% of the time.

Well, a huge percentage of people break the speed limit, a huge percentage use illicit recreational drugs, a huge percentage do any number of morally wrong acts. None of which removes our moral duty to condemn these acts and even, where appropriate, to criminalise them.

And as has been pointed out - there’s evidence that condoms don’t prevent the spread of AIDS anyway.

This is becoming really alarming…I have browsed a lot of documentaries and they are referring to THE RC as the WHORE of BABYLON and the POPE as the ANTICHRIST!!! A lot of strong points really support their ideas. please refer to YOUTUBE and search the internet. by the way they even regarded POPE JOHN PAUL II as the Beast who is one of the seven beasts!!

Help me out with these:
  1. why do we call priests FATHERS where in fact this title should only be given to THE MOST HIGH GOD?
  2. why is it the POPE is infallable?..why can’t we question him?..IS THERE ANY PART IN THE BIBLE THAT THE DISCIPLES WERE VESTED WITH THE POWER OF INFALLABILITY?

Thank you for setting all us poor stupid Catholics straight. Up until now all we had to go was the bible that we set into canon, and 2000 years of teaching by the Magisterium. And I almost forgot we are the church founded by our Lord Jesus Christ through an unbroken line of apostolic succession.

But I am sure your preacher Bob who went to bible school for six months, said ’ that stuff aint in the bible’

TROLL!!!

LL, as the OP of this thread, I really don’t care for folks trolling for incindary engagements on here, or anywhere, however much I may agree or disagree with points made on here by anyone, including you. Do get some manners, and when you can converse without shouting, and can be civil in your statements, please return and show us your good stuff. Your trial membership means you try it out. It doesn’t mean you are “trying” patience or making us undergo a trial by incoherence. Bon chance!

(note to self: Find that aeresol can of BS repellent.)

Thanks for the information. I am not shoutng though. By the way for those who replied with symbols like “*****”, I am not really attacking anything. I am alarmed about what i have read and seen, and it doesnt mean i am shouting it out to destroy the Church. the thing is, I am not hating anybody, I want clarifications and ideas on how these things can be refuted. I apologize if my statement was misunderstood.

If you knew what that true teachings were you wouldn’t even be making these ridiculous statements. Since you know so much please explain to me the meaning of papal infallibility.

And really what do you call the man that helped your mother conceive you? Catholics look at biblical teaching in the context it was taught not slice out chapter and verse and twist to their liking.

You also need to read the forum rules or you are not going to be a trial member or any type of member very long. If you have honest questions start your own thread instead of hijacking another. And there is no need to use all caps, we Catholics are not visually impaired.

I didnt know that making a point makes somebody visually impaired. By the way, If somebody have read my apologies then maybe they will try to understand first before telling something. I have expressed my apologies if the statement i posted earlier was mis understood. I am here to ask favor to clarify things not to debate to anybody.

I am not giving statements, I have presented some questions that I have read in order for them to be clarified. as i have presented. I am alarmed about what i have read and seen.

GOD Bless YOU all!

If you’re serious about this, you need to presend these questions iin separate threads rather than derailing the topic here. Thanks.

The only Legitimate use of condoms is water balloons. Other than that the pope is right. All of you lurkers and naysayers need to explore the absolute truth of The Catholic Faith.

that is what i did after a good brother advised me how to do it because i was really clueless on how to begin a new thread.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

condoms perpetuate the satisfaction of sexual craving of a person. The church in answer to this must promote abstinence in order for the flock not to be misled since sex or intercourse is a sacred act.
