March for Life - anyone going?

I was wondering about that. I saw that EWTN is having a “March for Life” program tomorrow. But does the Mainstream Media just not mention it at all, or do they mention it in passing? I almost never watch the news anymore and certainly won’t watch it tomorrow, but I am curious what their coverage is like. I heard a program on the radio recently that said that more people show up for the March for Life than ever showed up for any of the civil rights marches on Washington. This show was referring to the lack of coverage of the pro-life movement in history textbooks, and was interviewing the author of “48 Liberal Lies About American History”.

I second that-they never do!

I wonder if the marchers will get any grief from Obama supporters that are still ‘hung over’ from the inaguration.

Can’t get EWTN anyway, not even on my computer.

There’s no bus leaving from here in Upstate NY, and I can’t afford to go anyway (not working).

I’ll go to Adoration and pray the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.

On the 23rd I might go to a church in a neighboring town to pray the “Rosary for Life”.

Diocese of Rochester sent some buses… too bad you didn’t post sooner, I think they have left by now.
 
I am going to the Walk for Life here in San Francisco. I know I can’t do the entire walk a/c I’m pretty old but do want to start with the group. I also went for the “walk” last year, and there were thousands of people walking. Unfortunately our newspaper the “Chronicle” somehow found an area where there weren’t too many and that’s the one they printed in the paper – can’t wait to see how they’ll handle the walk this year.
 
Students for Life here at OU is reimbursing me and a friend of mine. We’re leaving around 10 tonight to drive to Marietta, where we’ll meet with the priest of St. Mary’s there, hop on a bus, stop around 3AM for mass, and get to DC in time for some speeches, HOPEFULLY the mass at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and the march.

Here’s praying for good weather and safety for all of us involved!

over 260 girls from my (all girls) school are going. That’s over half! we’re leaving at 5 am tomorrow morning 😛 i heard it’s supposed to be in the 40’s though! yay, no frost bite!
 
I have to say, it’s shocking to me that such large numbers of people attend this. I’m not pro-life, but I’m less pro-choice than most if that makes sense - I’ve never met anyone pro-life. I live in New England and attend a university that has students from all over - and no one would ever go to a march like this and would get angry if I went. It’s like we live in 2 different countries.
 
I am going to the West Coast Walk on a bus provided to our parish by our local Knights of Columbus. We aren’t that far from SF.

We go to Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral, have snacks and drinks available before and after the Walk.

I hope it doesn’t rain, but at least it’s not freezing! You Washington marchers have my admiration.
 
I can’t go to the march tomorrow because of class but I did go to the Vigil at the Basilica. It was truely a beautiful and moving experience to be surounded by so many youth who share the same desire to end this horrible atrocity.

Yes! Our parish is also hosing about 150 marchers from around the US and Canada.

This is a smaller crowd than in past years, so I’m expecting that the total March for Life attendance will be smaller than usual. This could primarily be due to economic concerns among the marchers, but some groups have also had trouble contracting charter buses because they were all being used to return from the inauguration.
 
I’m not going, but my thoughts and prayers will be with the marchers.

Anyone taking bets that some of the far-left groups stuck around after the inauguration to “counter-protest?” :mad: I have seen pictures of previous Marches on blogs, and the March for Life folks have to put up with a lot of nasty signs and jeers. It is just ugly and I do not doubt Satan is there in the thick of it. They need our prayers for sure!

I’ve been to the March for Life numerous times, and I’ve barely even noticed any “counter-protesters”. I usually only see 2 or 3 of them standing around, and that’s it. I don’t think the counter-protesters are as numerous as the blogs lead you to believe. Their numbers will undoubtedly increase this year due to the inauguration, but they will still be a tiny drop in the bucket.

The big pro-abortion groups usually hold their rallies on weekends in the summer (to boost attendance) and do not do anything on January 22.

The diocese of Wichita, KS has 500 people going. Mostly high school and college kids. The K of C have volunteered to chaperon this year. They kick off with a mass celebrated by the Bishop at 6pm, then travel through the night. The bishop is riding along on what they’ve named “Shepard One” and the kids are all calling themselves Roamin’ Catholics:thumbsup:

I’m glad your going to the big one, but we Kansans are also showing up strong at the state capitol tomorrow!! The Dodge City Diocese has an entire travel bus load and a suburban full!!! I will be praying for all of us!!!

Since I just went back to work (hence, no leave) I cannot attend. 😦 The sad part is that I am only a few Metro stops away from going. I really admire the people taking long bus rides to attend the March, that is awesome.

When I went in 2006 we saw a whole 7 people total protesting…this year I suspect there will be more though 😦
 
Pro-lifers, you’re in my prayers! I won’t be with you in the flesh, but in spirit I will.
 
Prayers for those there now… including all our CAF families!!! It starts in 10 minutes…
