After reading about your experience, it’s reassuring when a Marian apparition receives official approval from the local bishop and the Vatican. The newly-approved apparition of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, WI, I think will be a source of great graces.

I’ve built a new website to help pilgrims make good pilgrimages there, as well as learn about the apparition and its message. I’m looking for volunteers who can write about their pilgrimage there, or who can write about pilgrimages in general.

Thanks Kevin. I havent heard about this apparitions.

havent you been reading the info on the medijore site; theres a 5 day jamborie of visitations by the Virgin from medijore now to happen in Alabama USA in a day or two; everybody is encouraged to come allong cos if ur not there you wont get the benifits of Our Lady’s graces like theyre hers to begin with?. Our Lady prays for us; Christ gives graces. You can get a list of suitable bread and breakfasts with a range of benefits according to your wallet. I’m sorry but something seems totally wrong about the feeling of all this. Our Lady in Japan talked of a great apostacy in the church that would set bishop against bishop etc and Medijore seems to fit the bill. When you read between the lines of the people pushing it ; they appear to be reluctant to accept the rightfull authority of the Church and at no other major notable Apparition appart from Netherlands did the Authority of the Church get challenged so much and the answer no get ignored. In netherlands the Virgins image gets substituted over Christ in the cross. Mary is not Jesus and anyone who wants to put her between Christ and his church rather than kneeling beside him and encourages people to continually challenge the churchs authority and ignore it when it suits is not preserving the church in this time of trouble. I don’t say the Virgin hasn,t appeared in Medijore but I can say certain groups may have hijacked it.

I have a great reverence for the Virgin Mary and untill the Church sanctions Medijore Good Catholics should consider if Mary would be unhappy with them showing devotion to her at other approved sites while showing some support for the authority of the church rather than joining the ranks of people thinking they can bully the church.

I can find no info on the internet about this visitation in Alabama. Please provide a link. This whole thing makes me feel queasy.

That group in Alabama is a cult, their strange spirituality is another thing that led me to question the apparitions in Med themselves. That one visionary comes yearly, she’s the one with the laicized priest under Interdict as a spiritual director. The visionary from Arizona that I mentioned has a cult-like following, that is what divided the parish. A historic parish that St Elizabeth Anne Seton once belonged to. A journalist actually started a cult watch website to point out the serious problems with the visionary and those of Med, he was an ex-Catholic at the time, he is now in the Archdiocesan Catholics Coming Home program. The website has been getting a lot of interest.

Sadly, many of these alleged apparitions are becoming cult-like, I had personal bad experiences with some of these followers, which further pushed me away. I thank God that I am away from the whole mess. These cultists thought they knew the mind of God, or Our Lady; so they could judge me and say that I have this problem or that problem because I “don’t have enough faith”. They are the most judgmental, mean-spirited people I have ever met; running around looking all pious and wearing a zillion religious medals or giant crucifixes around there necks thinking they are better than anyone else. The gossip that comes out of their mouths about those who aren’t part of their little apparition clique is appalling. I can only pray for them, because they revolt me so much to personally be around any of them, it’s become a near occasion of sin for me. 😦

Unfortunately, since moving to Delaware, I’ve run into one of those people who follows both apparitions. As soon as she learned where I moved from, it was, “Oh you came from where Our Lady is appearing…” I cut her off and made it clear I do not subscribe to that nonsense, or Med, where the visionary was allegedly commissioned from. I’m glad that CAF doesn’t allow followers of these places to push these alleged and unapproved apparitions. We have Lourdes, Fatima, and more recently Kibeho, Akita and now the apparitions in Wisconsin. Why is that not enough? Why must people be seeking the newest and the latest visionary? We also have God Himself coming down from Heaven at the words of the priest, during the Consecration, at every Mass celebrated on altars around the world, every single day. The Vatican is working on some new guidelines for examining these visionaries, when they institute these, it will be interesting to see what happens when the visionaries fail to pass these examinations.

Please check your PM box, I sent you a link. I don’t think it would be appropriate to post in the forum, as the source is pro apparition.

I’ve been following Medjugorje for about 3 years now, I went to Alabama a few years ago. There are a lot of untruths on this thread about the subject. I will not take time to discuss what they are, but will give you the link to the website. www.medjugorje.com. One thing I will say is that these people do not worship Mary, they pray to her to intercede for us. They do not go against the church, they know that the apparitions are not approved and they admit that they are not. In their question and answer section that can easily be found on the website, it states…

“No, Medjugorje has not been officially approved by the Church, but the Canon Law of the Church allows devotions in the interim. The apparitions are ongoing and are under the watchful eye of the Church.”

You can learn a lot about Medjugorje at this site. Pray and ask God to help you discern what you read instead of believing what people are saying. Even the founder and author suggests that you pray to help you understand what he writes. Mary even said in one of her messages to “pray to understand the messages”. This is a very positive site, it has helped me grow in my faith to God and the church like never before.

The book that intrigued me was Medjugorje the Message by Wayne Weible (Rhymes with Bible). It is usually for sale for $2- $3 used online.

God Bless and guide you in your search for the truth! :O)

Why don’t we talk about approved apparitions instead of those that are banned on this forum? Med. is too controversial and causes too many heated discussions which is why I think they banned it in the first place.

I apologize for bringing up a banned topic. I was unaware it was off limits.

I didn’t know it was banned either, is there a list of banned topics somewhere that I may refer to?

Yes I think there is a list somewhere in the rules. I didn’t mean to sound harsh but I didn’t want this thread to get shut down. I’m suprised it hasn’t already. I found out through experience early on. A lot of people were arguing over it and I think the people were having a hard time being charitable so they offically banned the topic.

look at the reference stickies on the spirituality forum, which is generally where this topic is discussed. an unapproved private revelation is by definition, NOT traditional Catholicism.

I’m sure they will forgive people who didn’t know. It is ok to talk about approved apparitions all you want though! 👍

I saw an interview on the Late Late Show in Ireland (generic audience) with one of the visionaries from Medjugore named Vicka just a few weeks ago…she is one of the ones who still receives visions of the Blessed Mother everyday. I can honestly say that I have NEVER SEEN ANYONE who radiates joy like that woman. I guess if I saw the Blessed Mother every day for 30 years I would be very happy too! You just felt it from watching her and listening to her. I can’t imagine that joy coming from the evil one…very impressive. Even the generic audience which you can imagine would be coming from a different place than the people on this forum…were unbelievably respectful as she was interviewed as was the host of the show. If I can find the link, I will post it…

CLARIFICATION

Promoting unapproved apparitions is banned.

What does this mean?

You may have a devotion to an alleged appartion. However, we ask that you voluntarilly refrain from promoting devotion to it. There is no prohibition on discussing the events and the issues around the apparition.

If the dialogue evolves into a battle or a promotion of the apparition, the thread has to be closed.

I hope this answers any questions. If you need more clarification, feel free to PM me or any other moderator who may be on duty at the time.

Thanks,

Thomas Casey

Thank you Thomas for the clarification. I agree with you Faustina we should discuss approved apparitions. So how do I go about getting a brown scapular blessed? I already have one, although I’m not sure whether it is blessed or not, I got it when I was much younger. Do they require certain devotions to wear them?
