Goth, goth, goth. Aren’t there any metalheads left?

I love what Alice Cooper said about Marilyn Manson. “Male singer, female name. Lots of theatrics. I wish I’d thought of that.”

malachi_a_serva il try to give you an answer to the best of my ability, Goth is sort of a fashion with its own mentality, its pretty much an accepting artistic thing, and how it glorifys god, i dont know, it depends on the person, not everyone beleives in your god, personaly, no offecne or anything but now i think theyve turned the catholic and christian viewed god into a fake thing so they can make money off of it.

oh and you do realise your bieng ridiculed by Christians right? beacause their so fuc**** cocky that they say their path is the only righteous one.so please if you ever do something for a random person over the internet, do this for me, if a christians tlaks bad about other religions and how theirs is the only path to salvation…hit em for me, il love you for ever

Goth is a subculture that revoles around the soul of the indivual. As Elkeego how it glorfies God depends on the person. I’m a better Catholic as a Goth because I have learned to be true to myself and my soul. As one becomes a Goth, one looks into their soul and afferms what they belive. My soul was catholic, in thought, belif and pratice. Being a Goth did not hinder, rather helped with being Catholic. The beauty of the mass is more evident to me now as a Goth because Goths are in tune to the natural beauty of the world, for example.

All of this kinda makes me chuckle and cry in the same moment. I think that it’s funny how every “goth” i come across seems to say the same thing…“it’s about non-conformity, it’s about being your own person.” The hysterical thing about that statement is that there are BILLIONS OF GOTHS! How is that not conforming to the typical…goth crowd? There are jocks, there are preps, there are your average joes…wherever you fall is just where you fall. I think the minute someone wasn’t accepted as “the norm”…was the same minute that goth-ism was created. Now for the whole Manson thing. If it’s all about the politics of religion why isn’t he attacking the political leaders instead of lets say…THE POPE! And if you are Catholic, I’m sorry but listening to someone’s whose music criticizes The Pope and The Church for that matter is like…well…blasphemus is it not? I’m not trying to tell you what to do or what to listen to or not to listen to, but if you want to speak so outrightly about the topic, I would probably say become more educated on what it means to be Catholic. You are young and it’s been said that with youth comes the tendency to be easily persuaded, I would just say that if you decide to continue to listen to M.M. you might just want to be a lil wary. Keep your eyes and ears completely open for anything that could affect your soul, your life on earth, and your life eternally.

Have you ever listened to MM?

Goth, Metalhead, Kansas Farmer, I don’t care what you are as long as your ORTHODOX. Those of you who are Catholic at any rate. Good luck to tha rest of ya.

mm is boring, his lyrics are stupid and unoriginal, the music isn’t creative or original since it consists of the same cords over an over. he’s a reverand with the CoS because LaVey just gave it to him insted of selling it to him, like all the others, to make more money over a lame philosophy on life with no substance. mm’s managers dress him up as a cartoon personality and promote him to the kids who feel that they don’t fit in to make money off of him. i’m sure he says things just to get a reaction and so maybe a 14 year old will buy a tshirt or a poster. lavey and manson are cut from the same cloth. it’s all to make a buck.

Have you ever listened to MM?
Actually when I was probably only a couple of years younger than you, my cousin useda babysit me during the summers and he listened to KoRn, ICP, and Manson. At the time, I totally adored my cousin and thought he was the kewlest thing since sliced bread but when I actually go back and think of some of the lyrics or read them…im pretty disgusted. also the “baptizing” babydolls in blood and ripping pages from “bibles” and doing certain things with said pages that i will not mention…totally uncalled for. its all for shock value. i think that’s another thing the goth population goes for…if they can make one person stare at them with mouth gaping open then theyve done their job for the day. blah blah blah.

of course they do it for shock value. the goths i have ever known were the “look at me. my life sucks. my blood is black and my soul is wounded from the abyss of…” the boys dressed as girls, the girls dressed like zombies… well they all dressed as zombies. they thought they were so different because they wrote painful boring poetry, or had a journal, never smiled, or wore long sleeve shirts in the summer to hide cut marks on their arms. if they only took the time to talk to different people they would have realized that the jocks, the nerds, the preps, whatever, had the same fears and hopes as they do. i guess you can’t get attention that way though.

Blood splattered on sheets once so pale
droplets of blood upon the floor
tears that cry but never fall
the sing of the blade doth tell all.
A broken soul crying out
upon deaf ears they do land
suffering alone this cruel fate
that not even pain can abate
A life ended by violent means
shattered, broken, endlessly
A final whisper, spoken and then fads
“The Chronicles of a razorblade”

Broken bonds of coven ties
Destroyed lifes, perished lies
underground midnight flights
a war that rages away from light.
Immortal power, Immortal sin,
A life of distain, a darkness within.
A soul inhabited by diablic black,
a million things that cannot be taken back.
A ground stained with human blood.
A face of horror covered in mud.
To fear that which you’ve become
To relive the sluaghter that’s been done.
To live in hate, from sunlight banned,
A cross’s touch forever damned.
A once blurred image in broken glass
forever gone from a soul that did not last.
The diabolical rapture, the sacrifise of love,
The wait for your dark master, ever beloved.
A river of tears, unable to cry,
and the one thing you want most…
the abilty to die.

Leaping flames of hearts desires,
burning ashes from intense fires.
Weeping sparks from funeral pyres,
and the need for love becoming dire.
The old clock striking midnight tune,
amongest red roses in full bloom.
Echoing sounds of a faceless doom,
vanish in the light of the full evening moon.
A whiff of lavendor, a hint of lace,
the unmistakable stawberry taste.
Velvet hair and a whitewashed face,
laughter erupting throughout this place.
Holy water, a crusifix about the breast,
blood rushing down upon the chest.
Still laughing as though a joyest fest,
death soon becomes an unwelcomed guest.
A beauty to weak for the fight,
the vampire turns to take flight.
My dark prince vanishes from my sight,
and I lay still in dying light.
of course they do it for shock value. the goths i have ever known were the “look at me. my life sucks. my blood is black and my soul is wounded from the abyss of…” the boys dressed as girls, the girls dressed like zombies… well they all dressed as zombies. they thought they were so different because they wrote painful boring poetry, or had a journal, never smiled, or wore long sleeve shirts in the summer to hide cut marks on their arms. if they only took the time to talk to different people they would have realized that the jocks, the nerds, the preps, whatever, had the same fears and hopes as they do. i guess you can’t get attention that way though.
I hate misconceptions. This isn’t goth. This is a bunch of high school kids who need to have their heads checked. Goth is about soul, not about shock value or attention or whatever. Marilyn Manson isn’t even a goth. He’s a shock rocker, which is why he does the things he does. That’s what you’ve mistaken for Goth. It’s like Goth, but it’s only skin deep.

i’ve heard better poetry for sure.
the goths i knew were ones after high school too. they use to come to the punk rock clubs here and have frowning contests. those same goths were about ‘soul’, but still did things just to show just how boring one can be. and for the comment about manson not being goth, i knew that 14 years ago when i saw him for the first time. labels are still silly. i comb my hair, wear nice clothes, shave daily, and try to keep clean but i wouldn’t consider myself preppy, a stiff, republican(!), or anything like that. i’m just me. so when one labels themselves goth, or punk, or whatever it is just silly because they are just themselves and labels are lame. :twocents:

You are my ray of sunshine, gift of gold
A new book with a story untold.
My child, I watch your life unfold,
As you grow up, and I grow old.
There is nothing sweeter then your face,
nothing more special then when our fingers lace.
Your laughter echos through this place,
Memories of you I will never displace.
I’ll treasure all the kisses you send,
and save all the words you pen.
The nights of tears and hurts to mend,
And all the stregth to you I’ll lend.
I’ll hold you close while you weep,
and sing you into a peaceful sleep.
My precious baby, slumbering deep,
I give to you my heart to keep.

Don’t call yourself a Catholic or an American then. That’s labeling.

i didn’t say all labeling was lame. just the “i’m emo/goth/straight edge/punk/hardcore/screamo/etc” labeling.
oh, and you said that goth was all about soul right? isn’t being a catholic all about your soul? maybe you have some more poetry that can help me understand?

I guess what it all boils down to is acceptance. No one is ever going to feel 100% accepted by the ENTIRE world. Being Catholic isn’t about having hate in your heart or criticizing another “social group.” Love thy neighbor as thyself." I am just saying that if you are a Christian period, Manson is probably not the person you should be aspiring to be like. Whether all of his stuff is an act or it’s real…it’s still affecting his soul wouldnt u say? People want to act like theyre so obscure and so hard to figure out…“My soul is a tortured one so I write scary poetry, I dress in black cuz it matches my heart…” You know…if you have Christ in your life, how can you have a dark soul/heart/mind or whatever? His light shines brightly in me and I could never imagine having such dark feelings towards anything knowing that He is in my heart. I don’t know, I just think that pin-pointing yourself as an “outcast” does nothing but create discriminatory feelings for others towards you. For Heaven’s sake and by all means embrace your differences and uniqueness of course, God made us all different and gave us different gifts for a reason but don’t make yourself a victim. No one is exactly the same…but why make it a sad and dramatic thing? I’m different than you, the prom queen, the computer geek, the emo kid…thank God ya know? Not because they are things that I do or don’t want to be, but because I am ME! 👍

Goth is who I am. When I don’t go by my name, I go by Goth. If you ask my friends to describe me in single words, the first two would be Goth and Catholic. To me it’s no more of a label then my name, my religion, etc. Because It’s part of who i am.

The cross was brought down
and mounted up
people came and brought roses
and layed them at his feet.

There were people waiting line
all wanting their turn
to place blue or yellow or red or white roses
at his feet.

The last person in line
was a teenage girl
Her clothing was as black as her roses
and she walked up and placed them at his feet.

People watched her
They shook their heads
To them she was mocking him with her roses
They could not belive she had layed them at his feet.

Surely he would rebuke her
Surely she was evil
Surely the holy one would never accept those roses
Surely he would crush them with his feet.

But he said nothing
As he hung on the cross
At the second coming he brought black roses
He presented them to the girl who fell at his feet.

Her clothing turned white
as she bent on her knees
When the flowers fell to the ground they were white roses
She bent foth and kissed his feet.

He helped her up
and smiled at her
He thanked her for her roses
He told her it was more then flowers she had put at his feet.

She put forth her soul
for she had walked in darkness
Her life was the color of those roses
And she had layed it all at his feet.

Every sin every wrong
All her suffering, all the mockary
She put it into the roses
and layed it at his feet.

He crowned her among her brothers and sisters
For she was one of the worthy
For he was light and turned her soul like the roses
She again knelt at his feet.

Those mocked her
Those who judged her wrongfully
They would fall as the petals of the roses
They weren’t worthy to kneel at his feet.

She was, the darkness was gone
Forever she no longer needed black
She needed only the love that had turned the roses
And she smiled for the first time as she prayed at his feet.

I would agree, but it isn’t about acceptance. It’s about being who you are.
I am just saying that if you are a Christian period, Manson is probably not the person you should be aspiring to be like.
Never said I was. Nor Do i want to be. I just listen to his music sometimes.
Whether all of his stuff is an act or it’s real…it’s still affecting his soul wouldnt u say?
Yes.
People want to act like theyre so obscure and so hard to figure out…“My soul is a tortured one so I write scary poetry, I dress in black cuz it matches my heart…” You know…if you have Christ in your life, how can you have a dark soul/heart/mind or whatever? Read my signature. I am one who walks through the valley of the shadow of death and fears no evil. The light is stronger in darkness.
I don’t know, I just think that pin-pointing yourself as an “outcast” does nothing but create discriminatory feelings for others towards you.
We are all outcasted in our way. Goths are outcasts not because they choose to be “outcasts” but because they choose to set themselves apart and follow their souls, rather then society.
For Heaven’s sake and by all means embrace your differences and uniqueness of course, God made us all different and gave us different gifts for a reason but don’t make yourself a victim.
I don’t.
No one is exactly the same…but why make it a sad and dramatic thing?
It isn’t.
I’m different than you, the prom queen, the computer geek, the emo kid…thank God ya know? Not because they are things that I do or don’t want to be, but because I am ME
Good for you. I’m different because I am me too. and “Me” is Goth_Catholic.

You say you are setting yourself apart from society but as i said our society contains TONS of goths. u are conforming to being gothic lol. no matter how hard u try to be an individual someone is always going to classify you as something. if you’re not part of society then what are u? if u reply with goth_catholic…there are others, which makes u part of society. it doesnt even matter, the point is if u care about your eternal life enough u would listen to the words of Christ…not the words of manson. im not saying that u dont care about ur soul or anything im just saying there are more appropriate people to listen to if u are that much a follower of Christ starting with Him in The Bible. Like i said before it’s about acceptance of others in general…i wasnt trying to judge u by any means i was promoting acceptance and peace. i wasnt saying that goths do things for acceptance by each other i think u might have misunderstood what i was trying to say. another thing is, as a fellow Catholic i am just trying to help you understand that if God is such a tremendous part of who you are, i would think that you should be offended by mansons lyrics rather than listening to them for some sort of guidance or trying to relate to him.🤷

:banghead: where the hell have I ever said I listen to him “for some sort of guidance or trying to relate to him”?! If I got offended by every god hating anti catholic lyric, sentance or otherwise I’d spend half my day just being offended. I’m not a luke warm Catholic, I’m a scapular wearing-rosary praying-bible reading-apologist . I deal with Mary hating anti catholics! So at the end of the day, if Manson comes up on the cd player, I’m more then happy to cuss my voice out right along with him. I don’t care what he sings, it means nothing to me other then a chance to wind down. Help yourself. Buy a scapular and pray the rosary every night.

Are you serious? Like seriously serious? Did I or did I not say that I wasn’t trying to judge or offend you? I didn’t say u worshiped the guy! You said in previous posts that you LIKE what his lyrics say. Go back and read some of your posts. And honey, I have a scapular and numerous rosaries. Don’t tell me to do anything. I don’t take orders from many…God, The Pope, and my elders yes, but certainly not from minors. If you want to play a game of who is a better Catholic or more devout…I wash my hands of you because I do not compare myself to people in that way. You go right ahead and scream ur swear words at the top of your lungs with your Manson music, but don’t you dare ever question my faith. That is between me and God. I never questioned yours, I simply said that if you are what you say you are, then why listen to someone who has nothing but bad things to say about Christianity! Thank you and I’m done…no need for a response because I won’t check this thread ever again. I’m officially offended. Way to go Goth ya did your job!👍  😦

I said I was a fan of his and I said I liked the lyrics to “the fight song” because I deal with catholic-hating protestants and therefore can relate when he sings “I’m not a slave to a god that doesn’t exist”. I never said I liked all his lyrics.

Take your own advice then. You may not have intended to question my faith but
another thing is, as a fellow Catholic i am just trying to help you understand that if God is such a tremendous part of who you are, i would think that you should be offended by mansons lyrics rather than listening to them for some sort of guidance or trying to relate to him
reads as though you where. You made assumptions and twisted what I said in order to justify your attempt to “help” me. If you don’t want me questioning your faith, don’t attempt to question mine. Don’t ever tell try to “help” anyone when you don’t know them. Listening to someone who has bad things to say about Christianity doesn’t mean anything. For the record, Manson has bad things to say about a lot of things, Christianity just happens to be one of them.

So I offended you, big deal. I have people try to offend me all the time. Maybe that’s why I can be such a b-----.😉 😃 Have a nice day.

of course they do it for shock value. the goths i have ever known were the “look at me. my life sucks. my blood is black and my soul is wounded from the abyss of…” the boys dressed as girls, the girls dressed like zombies… well they all dressed as zombies. they thought they were so different because they wrote painful boring poetry, or had a journal, never smiled, or wore long sleeve shirts in the summer to hide cut marks on their arms. if they only took the time to talk to different people they would have realized that the jocks, the nerds, the preps, whatever, had the same fears and hopes as they do. i guess you can’t get attention that way though.
Wow, do you honestly know how uncaring you sound? I don’t listen to Manson, never have never will, but i won’t stoop to being rude to someone who does.
I don’t conform my appearance to what society or even catholics think is the norm. I dress what many would call punkish and do get dirty looks from many people. But do I care? No. I feel comfortable with the way i look and I feel that God is happy with how I look. And you really should be careful with what you say about people who cut themselves. It is an actual medical disorder. I had it and it’s not something to make fun of. Until you’ve sat by yourself in a bath room crying, with blood gushing out of your arm, then please mind what you say about that topic. And don’t say someone like that doesn’t know how to handle hurt. Hello, it’s called depression, ever heard of it?
