A group of Protestant Christians is protesting the emblem of the European Union on automobile license plates because they say it symbolizes the veneration of the Blessed Mother, the British website Ekklesia reported.
The Dutch group, the National Foundation for the Preservation of the Political Reformed Principles, said the EU emblem—a circle of 12 golden stars on a blue background, gives undue emphasis to the Catholic significance of Mary.
In 1989, the Vatican newspaper L’osservatore Romano reported the emblem’s designer, Arsene Heitz, had described the source of his inspiration as a series of reported apparitions by the Virgin Mary in 19th century Paris. The date on which the Council of Europe adopted the flag, Dec. 8, 1955, coincided with the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Just leave well enough alone. Imagine, protesting the Mother of Christ.

Yeah, I heard about this years ago. It’s almst as silly taking God off of money.

But it’s the Mother of Christ. Why even go to the extreme of even saying anything? They are “Christians” too. These Protestants should just let it be. So what? I might even understand if it were more of a non-Christian group. Totally pathetic.

The answer is in the Bible:

“And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.” (Luke 2:35)

People do silly things. Pray for them.

OTCA,
Do you have a link to the article? I’d like to read it.
Thanks,
Jon

See if you can get it on the British website Ekklesia, if not I got it from the Catholic Register newspaper.

Funny how God manages to put His Thumbprints in the places we least expect them. This reminds me of Eddie Doherty seeing a reflection of Mary in the Statue of Liberty…
