Small chips have already been placed into hands / foreheads…
Not as yet in the manner which shall occur as per Revelations…
I read of some company in Europe that was trying to get all their employees chipped.

Personally I think the “Nero” interpretation is the scholarly and correct one.
That’s for the people who don’t want believe that the end of the world is coming.
I can believe that 666 refers to Nero, and that the end of the age is coming, and is in fact quite near.

Satan sets up imitations of God’s work. The Christians are marked by baptism, I suspect the beast will imitate that in some way

Will we know it without a doubt when the mark of the beast is here? Can someone that is Christian take the mark of the beast without realizing it?
If the Church is “not here”, won’t that mean that the gates of hell have prevailed against her?

People have debated the whole “has it already happened? will it happen? neither? both?” thing ever since the Bible came to be read by the faithful. We can’t know with certainty. I want to think we will, somehow, know, when and if that time comes. And I hate to say it, but if Catholics “go wobbly” at that point, try to explain it away, or if something else goes wrong that keeps us from being told, there will be no shortage of evangelical biblical fundamentalists around to tell us “remember that ‘mark of the beast’ thing we tried to warn you about, well, here it is, the prophecy has been fulfilled!”.

I have told my loved ones that, if I’m not around to warn them and explain to them what’s happening, don’t take the mark.

I’ve wondered if it would be similar to the mark Christians had in the (fictional series) “Left Behind”. Christians could see a dark smudge (think; Ash Wednesday ashes) on a fellow Christians forehead and know who was a follower of Christ even though those following the anti-Christ could not see it.

I actually secretly hope it’s something like that so we can see who is a fellow believer as we’d all have to help each other in the last days since we couldn’t buy or sell without the mark of the beast. 🙂

Honestly, all these answers are great, but they don’t answer my question. Will true believing Christian know when it’s here? I really want to know what it is so I can avoid it. I don’t want to turn my back on Jesus Christ.

I already gave an answer to that idea!

The mark of the beast represents corrupt earthly authorities that persecute the faithful. It references primarily Nero, who was a contemporary of the time, but every government up to the present day that persecutes the faith fits as well. John’s Apocalypse isn’t a portent of the future. It is a description of the Church’s need to endure persecution and it applies to every generation and the various struggles that each one faces. But it is ultimately about hope and celebration, because we see that Jesus always perseveres and the battle is won.

Submitting to the civil authorities by renouncing the faith is a grave sin. A person who chose loyalty to pagan Rome over Jesus committed a grave sin.

The two beasts represent two powers: corrupt civil authorities and corrupt religious authorities. Horns are a common symbol of power.

Peace.

I don’t need to explain anything. It’s an outrageous claim. You explain.

Yes you do… The onus is upon you. .

You make statements?

… No MicroChip! and That’s Outrageous!

Fine… Support it. Else it holds no water…

Okay.
  1. It never says anything about microchips.
  2. It never says anything about microchips.

In the religion of my youth, the mark of the beast was worshiping on Sunday instead of Saturday. The Catholic Church and its “whore daughters” (Protestants) would create one world religion. If you refused to worship on Sunday instead of Saturday you would be not able to buy or sell. I remember sermons where the minister would say to the congregation, “If someone puts a gun to your head and tells you you must worship on Sunday, what will you do brethren?! What will you do!?”

Maybe it’s actually about credit cards?

Or wallets?

Or keychains?

Or social security cards?

Or dog tags?

Or shirt tags?

Or tattoos?

Or Sharpies?

Or… MicroChips… which can do all the above plus much much more.

POINT?

To those with FAITH - we’ll know.
