Hi. 🙂 How about supporting people after they’ve sinned? Unless they can undo as if by magic the surgical self-abuse already undertaken?

Maybe the surgeons should be the ones that are penalized by having outside public holes in the ground reserved for those who carry out inhumane acts?
(…not, suggesting this is a good idea, btw).

DaveBj, was that the official sign you posted? But isn’t that sign suggesting that all women wear dresses?

🙂
I don’t know that it is THE official sign, or even whether or not there is an official sign, but it is a sign that is being used.

This is surprising! I just think this sign is odd. Don’t the people who decided on this sign understand that some people have genetic ‘issues’, and also, people who don’t have genetic issues who have done this to themselves are thinking they are a new gender - that they have become that which they have modelled themselves to be. Can’t help feeling that there are a few details in the erm…semiotics of that sign that seem confused and in argument with the reality of the situation. It almost makes me wonder whether the sensitivity of the subject alone is enough reason for them to have stayed away from the issue altogether?! On the one hand it is possibly a misrepresentation and on the other seems to mock those whom the separate bathrooms are intending to help. Unless some people think they are mixed genders - two genders? It is all a bit confusing, IMO.

Thanks for your response to my post. 👍

Hello.
Not every transgender person can afford to do the surgeries that make them appear as the opposite gender; as far as I know, most can’t and many don’t want surgery. To change the bathroom signs in a Catholic university to make it seem that being transgender is morally permissible is scandalous.

Whatever angle we come from it would seem that these signs were a very bad idea - from encouraging something harmful to being insensitive - and this is possibly due to progressively liberal education. They may have meant well but definitely lacked integrity.
