I was once assigned to a case involving Parties who married at 16. If I was the Judge (which I was not), there is no way I could have said that there was proof that they were incapable of marriage. They did their best in the circumstances and didn’t act abnormally.

That being said, I think Petitioners would probably be happy to know that I don’t do much of any judging anymore.

17 year olds are capable of understanding that marriage is a permanent sexual union directed to the procreation of children, yes.

Natural marriages I am not sure. but it is very true Unconsummated Sacramental Marriages can be dissolved but not divorced. It is dissolved due to an impediment as far as the theological/ canon aspects of it behind the reasoning I cannot explain, but a priest can. Reason I say I cannot is due to I do not have the authority nor do I have the reasoning other than the purpose of marriage is to love and mutually support husband and wife and also to have children.

Respectfully what i mean is that there is not such thing as religious divorce in the Catholic Church based on the book of Saint Luke and Saint Matthew.

The Church does not recognize divorce. but the Priest in charge of the case does recommend a couple when they see that they have sufficient grounds to start a case of nullity to do divorce.

Also for child support purposes they may recommend the lady to do a legal “divorce” but even so they see the circumstances is cannot have the ability to declare it null, because they did have all the proper disposition to really marry. Then if case are at its worst they recommenced the couple to live separately and live a chaste holy life. but this is in extreme circumstances and must be talked to a priest. regardless it does not warrant nor give a dispensation/authorization for dating. I am just throwing it out there in case few people ask this question since when I was before in CatholicMatch (before I delete my profile) people has asked in public forums. They can always verify with a priest/ bishop and they will gladly clarify since in the book of Saint Luke Our Lord forbids divorce a well as saint Matthew and saint Mark. i hope this clarifies why i stated that we Catholics do no believe in divorce.

now we do not call it civil marriages we Catholics call it legal “civil” unions. because the only one that has had the authority to marry in a religious ceremony a couple is the Church. even in the (Byzantine) eastern rites as well as the orthodox do not recognize a marriage outside the church and it must be in front of a priest, since the priest unites the couple through God’s blessing (do not take my word you can ask a priest from any of those rites as well as well as the orthodox and they will confirm). in the Latin rite it is the couple but it is also must be in church through a priest since he represents Our Lord,

uhh noooo to the part of “…whether catholic or not. most just to keep it simple and call it a divorce.”

that is yielding to the ways of the world and the devil. the church does not have the authority and the faithful does not have the authority to call it a divorce. it is a delcaration of nullity and there is a difference.
  • divorce is to dissimilate a marriage, which is impossible because as Joeybaggz explained
“what God has joined together let no man put asunder” not only that he who marries her who was put away commiteth adultery Our Lord said it in the book of saint Luke
in the Gospel of saint Mark chapter 10 it says: “And he saith to them: Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if the wife shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. And he saith to them: Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if the wife shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery…”

so no we do not believe in divorce. and do not yield to modernism nor the ways of the world (we do nto mean world as in the literal sense nor the positive aspects) but when we say world we mean we do not yield to the devil nor the pressure of complying with it. even if many people so called consider it normal.

Whitney as mentioned in my last quote I will copy and paste it for you:
