If a Ukrainian Catholic man marries a Roman Catholic woman can they be married in either Church?
CCEO Canon 829If a Ukrainian Catholic man marries a Roman Catholic woman can they be married in either Church?
If you end up marrying this woman, and decide to marry in the Latin Church, perhaps a TLM would be a nice compromise. Gives you more solemnity, like the Eastern Rites, but still Latin/Roman.Oh okay. Just asking because I just submitted my change of church forms. I think the woman I am dating is “the one” and she’s Roman Catholic. She is interested in the East but her family is very Roman Catholic and my family is non-practicing or liberal Roman Catholic. That’s gunna be done the road a bit but it’s good to know what the options are, because as everyone knows the wedding ceremony is really for the parents, not for the couple.
The Church I go to is referred to by my family as the “dome Church” or the “Church that is like Anne’s Church with the priests with the ‘scary’ beards” (Anne is a long time neighbor and friend of my family who is Greek Orthodox.) Apparently a Great Aunt of mine who lives near the UGCC parish also thinks that it’s “not Catholic”…voná polacka…nuff said…![]()
Hmmmm, would the marriage have the liturgical spoon?Nah… Once you’ve experienced the East…even the TLM is like a flat soda.![]()
