I’m happy you came to update. I’ve thought about you here and there and hoped you were in a better place than before.

The new counselor sounds great. Hopefully, you two will make real progress.

I’m sorry your DH still isn’t interested in intimacy. Maybe he will feel the love again here soon with help from the new therapist. There is hope, always. Plus, he complimented you on parenting. Watching a lovely woman be a great mom to your kids seems to make men feel all warm and fuzzy.
 
I just ordered the book Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement. I think it might help to explain why work is his safe place and home life is so difficult. I believe that the basic concept is that officers experience hypervigilance while on the job so they experience an emotional high. When they come home they are coming down off that high and feel disconnected and apathetic toward loved ones. I can’t wait to read it. I’m sure that work affects his personal life even though he has never experienced anything overly traumatic in his career.
 
That is a really good idea for you to read up on law enforcement psychology. There may also be some books written for military spouses that would be helpful.
