. We have had full marital relations less than 13 times in those 8 years. My wife wants me to get a vasectomy

We’re things ever going well? As in before the kidney stones and kids?

I’ll pray for heart to soften.

Agreed. I’ve had them also and while my Doctor said it’s about the same as natural child birth, that didn’t stop anyone from from having more then one child, and it wouldn’t stop me from uniting with my wife.
Nope, your doctor is wrong, it’s way WORSE than childbirth. I’ve had 2 kids with no drugs whatsoever, and that was, for lack of a more accurate word, bearable. I nearly passed out from the sudden and overwhelming pain of my kidney stone, and needed multiple Demerol shots before surgery.

Howsoever, I still would never give up having sexual relations or children on the off-chance that I would develop stones and one would get stuck in transit.

I’ll never know about childbirth so I’ll yield to your experience. I’m sure your hubby appreciates the “Howsoever” 😃

Thanks all for posting 🙂 I wonder if there is a chance that with a 3rd child she would not get the kidney stones?

It is not a done deal that she will get kidney stones, but it depends on many factors, including her diet. A lot depends on what kind of kidney stones she develops. I believe that if she is prone to them, she could still get them while NOT pregnant too. I would ask the doctor exactly what the connection is.

She needs to talk to her doctor. It seems like you want a 3rd kid no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. Is that the case?

MANY women have had one child and then stopped because they never want to experience that pain again. As a nurse I have taken tons of histories from female patients and have heard women tell me this many times.
And for every woman who delivers her child naturally, there are several who opt for pain control during childbirth. So, many women do not want to experience that kind of pain.

Modern pain control has only been around less then a century. It certainly wasn’t hear for my grandmother and I’m glad it didn’t stop her 😉 As I’ve said before, other then what my wife described (and she did opt for pain control) I don’t have much experience so I better not comment on that part of the discussion again 👍

Consider you and your wife included in my prayers.

Another resource is a book called Marriage Fitness by Mort Fertel (spelling?).

I can only echo the very good advice already posted.

Remember you are not alone in your marriage - deepening your faith is always a good option.
