Marriage Protection Amendment
Makes it to First Base

Senate Constitution Sub-Committee Approved 5-4 the Marriage Protection Amendment, written and first proposed by AFM

For Immediate Release
Contact: Jill Melton (703) 934-1212

In a closed hearing the Senate Constitution Sub-Committee approved the two sentence Marriage Protection Amendment, which AFM wrote, says:

“Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman”

Matt Daniels, Founder and President of AFM, commends the Sub-Committee for their leadership and is calling upon all supporters of this amendment to register their confidence now.

Radical Activist groups have been mobilizing to motivate the opponents of the Marriage Protection Amendment to contact their elected officials in Washington, DC and register their opinions.

The Alliance for Marriage and its broad based, bipartisan, diverse coalition across the US is calling upon the millions of Americans who are in support of the common sense definition of marriage to show our numbers in support of SJRes 1 as written above.

I gladly signed the petition, however the committee might decide, just keep in mind that in order to amendmend the Constitution, it must be put before the voters in every state and pass by a 2/3 majority.

Why does heterosexual marriage need protection even if every homosexual in the United States married another homosexual? My own marriage of nearly 40 years now is already protected by the vows my wife and I made to each other back then, and needs no more protection than that to the day either of us dies.
