A struggle does not equal a responsibility.
A married person has all of the commitments and obligations that a single person does (work, elderly parents, etc). But they also have their spouse’s life obligations to take care of (their aging parents, sibling’s weddings, etc). Not only that, but in addition to the responsibility to their partner, they also have to run every decision by that partner.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that being married is harder. But if you’re doing marriage correctly, you will have a lot more to put before your own needs and wants than a single person will.
