I liked Dune, Messiah, and Children. They were all good. I liked God Emperor, too. Heretics and Chapterhouse were tedious and weird, even for Herbert!
I fear I tired quickly of the whole concept. I was never a great Herbert fan.

Heresy! To the gallows! Wait a minute, it’s GKC? Aw well, I blasphemed Chesterton, he blasphemed Herbert, all is forgiven…

I actually never tired of the concepts in the series. Loved the characters and universe. I also liked the idea of how the Bene Gesserit and their missionaries planted seeds on different planets and manipulate the worldviews of the various groups with messianic prophesies in order to gain power. And the way Muad’dib falls in love with his own mythos and eventually sees his own demise and falls into his own charicature was interesting to me. The whole jihad concept fascinated me too. Throw in “the weirding way” and I’m sold! lol

I occasionally run into Brian Herbert, or Kevin Anderson, at cons. Never got a Dune followup signed, though. Just not my cuppa.
