And you, :tsktsk: :tsktsk: my friend, are missing the simple point that crucifixion had its origin with the pagans. Do you suggest that we:bigyikes: reject Christ, for being crucified???:crying: :crying: God forbid!!!

Hello, Can you tell me what you are referring to, with actual quotes from what I’ve written? What you say makes no sense all to me. I think you have mixed up with someone else. Thanks, Charles

One apologetics resource you may be unaware of is the Bible Christian Society.

There you will find a lot of talks on apologetics by John Martinogni that you can download for free. One of them is “Mary and the Bible.”

If you find the talk worthwhile (and I think you will!), just hand a copy to your Protestant friend and ask him where he thinks John went wrong.

👍 Yes, this is a good source for info. One has to be careful these days to be sure the info is orthodox and in line with the Magisterium. I have some of John M’s tapes. I think they are all going to CD format now, though.

Another one is Catholics United for the Faith. I just found out Scott Hahn is a member; he attended a meeting (in my state!) when he was a new convert seeking fellowship.
Here is an article from their web site:
cuf.org/FaithFacts/details_view.asp?ffID=126
ISSUE: Does honoring and praising Mary and the saints offend God? Some Christian say that such practices are blasphemous, substituting the “worship” of creatures over God the Creator. What does the Bible say about these matters?

You’ll have to go to the site to read the answer.

More good stuff there for seekers.

God Bless,
Mimi

This is a post hoc ergo propter hoc error in logic.
It’s not “a simple point”! You don’t know what you’re talking about. What pagan religion prayed the Apostles’ Creed, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be to the father, to the Son and the Holy Spirit, medtating on all the major aspects of the life of Jesus Christ and Mary? According to you, the Bible is pagan. You better stop dissing the Lord’s Mother. Please do not send any messages about something you know nothing about. Do your research. You’ll see how wrong you are.
Charles

ATTENTION PROTESTANTS:

I challenge you about any Catholic beliefs about Mary.

Thanks, Charles
PS Only reasonable questions will be answered

Um… Mr Rizzo? Would you do us the honour of explaining what a post hoc ergo propter hoc error of logic is? Thank you ever so much.

😃

Here is another very easy to read, very well researched, and very faithful source of Catholic teaching geared for evangelicals:

Welcome to Catholic Bridge

(I think the bridge is for those who can’t swim.)

Re: pagan origins of Rosary

When, where, how, why, what???

I’m not Rizzo, but I can answer that for you. It means “after this, therefore because of this.”

Basically, it’s like this:

X occurred

Y occurred later

Therefore X caused Y.

In the context of this discussion, it would be:

Pagans used prayer beads.

Later, Catholics used prayer beads.

Therefore, Catholics perform a pagan practice.

However, just because one thing came first does not mean it caused the other. That’s why this is fallacious reasoning.

Got it?

an error in logic.

Hi,

I’m Rizzo. But you have the wrong guy. I did not write anything in Latin. I took it three times in university and dropped it each time.

If you want to do that, you should begin a new thread on it and specify exactly what aspects of the topic you wish to discuss.

The purpose of this thread is to answer the OP.
