I’ve always heard that Mary did not endure pain during childbirth. Is that true Church teaching, or just a presumed corollary from the Immaculate Conception?
I understand that it is permissible to believe so, but that it is not taught as dogma. I don’t believe that there is anything in scripture or tradition which reflects on it either way, as with so many other areas of belief.

I believe this is also true of the notion that Jesus didn’t cry as an infant - a pious thought but not dogmatic (and silly, as far as I can see, as if to suggest that crying is sinful!)
