Why is this a big thing whether or not Mary had sex after she gave birth to Jesus? What difference does it make? It doesn’t change the fact that Jesus is God or what He did. Thoughts?

And506 Mary is a virgin because her virginity is the sign of her faith “unadulterated by any doubt”, and of her undivided gift of herself to God’s will. 168 It is her faith that enables her to become the mother of the Savior: “Mary is more blessed because she embraces faith in Christ than because she conceives the flesh of Christ.” 169
To begin with, the Protoevangelium records that when Mary’s birth was prophesied, her mother, St. Anne, vowed that she would devote the child to the service of the Lord, as Samuel had been by his mother (1 Sam. 1:11). Mary would thus serve the Lord at the Temple, as women had for centuries (1 Sam. 2:22), and as Anna the prophetess did at the time of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:36–37). A life of continual, devoted service to the Lord at the Temple meant that Mary would not be able to live the ordinary life of a child-rearing mother. Rather, she was vowed to a life of perpetual virginity.

Mary with Jesus has to fulfill the OT and Adam and Eve were virgins when they sinned. Other virgins that are a type of Mary include Abishag the virgin widow of king David and Sara the virgin widow who married Tobias. Also Lot’s 2 virgin daughters. Only a virgin could fulfill the type of the Ark of the Covenant which was always holy because sex made one unclean and therefore not holy. Why is this a big thing whether or not Mary had sex after she gave birth to Jesus? The human person is a composite of rational soul and a body, uniquely suited. For Jesus Christ there is also the Person of the Son. The human nature only is from Mary. The phrase used to describe the incarnation is that the Son of God assumed human nature. St. John Damascene says (De Fide Orth. iii, 11) that the Son of God “did not assume human nature as a species, nor did He assume all its hypostases.”Interesting thought: When a female baby is born she already has all of the eggs in her ovaries that she will ever have. The humanity of Jesus dwelled within her even before Mary’s birth. In the Orthodox Church I was taught that if you took the DNA of Jesus there would have been no identifiable “deity” DNA. I don’t know if the Catholic Church also takes a stand on this (or even if what this priest said is official EO teaching) but if so, the totality of his personhood was contained within her since her beginning. I hope someone who knows the Catholic stance can chime in!
Mary experienced an indescribable union with God: being physically intimate with a human man would’ve been a huge step down. Why is this a big thing whether or not Mary had sex after she gave birth to Jesus?
