I was reading about the Lourdes grotto and was wondering why or how was Mary’s eyes blue when she was Middle-Eastern?
 
Hope, has Bernadette said the colour of Our Lady’s eyes.
 
Maybe not, after all. I was reading an article on Facebook that a reader mentioned that but nothing else I read did.

Nevertheless, other visions people have ha descriptions of Mary that all vary.

Honestly, what does it matter what color her eyes are?
 
It would seem to me that if the visions are genuine, they would be described the way she most probably really looked.
 
Also the ourlady of guadalupe eyes is different too theres image in her eyes,Im off the topic haha
 
Yes, I’ve read about Our Lady of Guadalupe. I think my parish has a replica of her picture.
 
I don’t know specifically about Mary, but the Levant has seen a lot of ethnic mixing over time. Blue eyes are not that uncommon Syria, for example. It’s less common as you go South, but it’s entirely possible that a Jewish woman in that time and place could have blue eyes if she had ancestry from the northern Levant.
 
I have no idea. I don’t think anyone would know unless they could look at her DNA because women’s ancestral lines weren’t often talked about in those times, so she could have had a female ancestor that came from up that way. Who knows?

That would be awesome if she did, though. My mother is from that area, so being 30-something-th cousins with Mary would be fantastic. 😃

Well I think she changes appearances to make people feel like she’s a part of their community. I’ve seen Chinese portraits of our Lady lol… I think there was a Vietnamese or Taiwanese apparation and a painting was made if it… Seems to be the case in Guadalupe as well…

I remember reading in Ben Hur that Mother Mary had golden hair and blue eyes… JUST LIKE DAVID DID. Now there’s no mention of King David’s eyes in the Bible, but he is mentioned to be handsome. I also remember Joseph (Jacob’s son) to have ‘clear eyes’ which can be considered lightly colored… But one would have to check the original text. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, it is quite possible for Mother Mary to have blue eyes.
 
Mary’s body enjoys the freedom of her soul. Her soul isn’t bound by physical laws. Her body is obedient to her will in heaven just as on earth. If it is Mary’s will to appear as an Aztec woman, or with blue eyes the body is free to do her will. The Glorified body is not bound by physical laws.

^^^This. It’s my understanding that when Mary appears, her appearance changes somewhat depending on who is seeing her. The Mary of “Our Lady of Guadalupe” looks different from the blond Mary of “Our Lady of Good Help” and both of those look different from “Our Lady of Fatima”, etc.

As a child I was taught that Mary was the mother of all people and hence when she appeared to a certain person, she would look similar to their ethnicity or nationality, as if she was their physical mother. She doesn’t always look like a young Jewish Middle Eastern woman, and isn’t restricted to looking that way with her glorified body.

I’ve always understood that a glorified body is able to change it’s appearance. For instance, Mary Magdalene didn’t recognize Jesus after the resurrection until he said her name. The disciples on the road to Emmaus also didn’t recognize Jesus until he broke the Bread.
