Blessed Mary Mckillop is due to be canonized in two weeks. However, a documentary which will air on Australian television on 10/10 claims that she had been excommunicated for several months for accusing a priest of committing child sexual abuse.

In response to the claims, the Sisters of St Joseph said in a statement: "Mary MacKillop’s excommunication from the church, for a period of five months from September 1871, is an event that has been comprehensively documented.
