Mary’s name isn’t there… neither is the saints, only Jesus.
I think what you (and a lot of protestants in general) tend to forget is that Catholics view the bible as a product of the Church rather than the Church being a product of the bible.

What this does is creates situation where the bible is not the “end-all, be-all” for Catholics. And that’s pretty rational given that the Church was probably two decades old before anyone started writing anything and history was on the cusp of entering the 2nd century before the last book would be written. Moreover, we’d be well into the 4th century before a clear, authoritative canon of scripture would begin to emerge and even then the Antilegomena (last few books of the NT) would be under debate until the 14th/15th century (I forget which) until a Church council said “Enough with the debates already!”.

So Timothy is a source - but not to the exclusion of others.

Thanks for your time.

I haven’t voted because I’m not sure. She’s definitely mediatrix of some graces, but what about the graces we get from the sacraments? Do those go through her to get to us as well? I haven’t learned much on this subject.
When I hear the term in conversation, I just don’t repeat it. I smile and say “Yes! The Theotokos…” (God-bearer)

Flowery language. Check out the dates most of these things were written.

Hail Holy Queen by Dr. Scott Hahn uses very different language because he’s writing in the current era. Nothing more than that.

Which is interesting, because many people of other faiths really prefer the King James Bible. like it’s holier. But no one talks like that. It’s really the same thing.

It’s not the fact of Biblical quotes…it’s just they don’t “get” why Mary is important.
They forget that King Solomon’s mother was revered, and people went to HER for favors, not directly to him. The mother of the King is the one to ask…according to the BIBLE.

Do you believe He continues to give these graces through the Holy Spirit?

God the Son ordained that He’d be born of a woman. He didn’t have to.

Who intercedes with groaning because we don’t know how to pray as we ought?

I see it as problematic. There is no evidence of this in either scripture or early tradition. Mediatrix of All Graces is a relatively new idea that relies on loose papal statements and poetic writings of some saints instead of revelation…

I like that the Church has set this topic aside and not pursued defining it. This in no way takes away from Mary. She is honored beyond anything any other creature can fathom. However, there is no need to heap new made up roles on her.

Dear Agathon,

Please refer to article by Father Most on: “Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces” at ewtn.com (listed first in “Popular Links” ) after the original post.

He corrected it… it was backward
Actually he didn’t. Notice, I said ‘Jesus’, not the Son of God. The Son of God does not take on human flesh and blood and become Jesus Christ without Mary.
